Anytime that I am near the car wash I stop in maybe once a week. Touch less car wash are the best no swirls, scratches etc. Been using them for years and they do not destroy the paint or wax like some mention. Maybe in the big cities where the water is recycled sewer water with all kinds of nasty chemical that is dumped there day after day. Also I never let the dealer wash my truck never chances of scratches and swirls are more apt there.

Sorry but this is inaccurate, the detergents in even touchless washes that filter their water are harsh and will affect your paint/paint protection, wont notice it right away but over time compared to a car that was washed with a ph-balanced detergent you definitely would.

Like mention I have not had any issues with damage done by the harsh to my paint or whatever. My Venza was washed weekly for 7 years at the same touch less car wash and the paint still look like new and shiny all the time. So I don't buy that theory of yours.

Go for it, but you are sadly misinformed if you think your touchless wash that uses high pressure, high and low ph detergents and treated water does not impact your paint and coatings and on par with a two bucket hand wash method using proper techniques and ph balanced detergents, hence my lmao on your statement.

New take any of my vehicles to a car wash...ever. Most i've done with my tacoma is hose the mud and salt spray off. Rain is good. My truck never looks so clean after a good rain storm. The ceramic glass coating does the rest.

@Nirango kid I agree. Members on this forum can be extremely resourceful at times and at other times incredibly divisive over simple matters of personal preference.

It's not being divisive, there is plenty of information out there on any detailing forum, youtube, etc. / discussion on how automatic car washes even touchless impact paint and coatings as opposed to proper handwashing methods, ph balanced soaps, etc. To say they are equal and just saying to each their own is misinforming and incorrect, you mentioned this site being resourceful, hence the correction, to inform members. Sure a touchless washed car will still look "shiny" to the average person, but nothing in comparison to a properly washed and paint corrected / coated car.

If you’re not into good looking paint then yeah. Age has nothing to do with it

I'm on my 5th new Mercedes. A Tacoma the same model year as a Mercedes 4-5 years down the road. Is worth more than 90% of all Mercedes. Why not take care of it?

If I absolutely HAVE to use an auto wash, I’ll find a touch-less. Otherwise, I hand wash when it’s looking dirty.

My problem with the traditional car washes with the giant rotating bristles is that they’re hardly every cleaned so your paint is being bombarded with leftover contaminates from hundreds of other vehicles.

I hand wash when possible. Touch less is second choice. I never use an automated touch car wash. They work better than touch less car washes simply because they agitate dirt better but they also trap the dirt, rust, etc from other cars and are great at scratching the shit out of your vehicle.

I mostly hand wash, 1-2 times a month. I only use auto washes during the dead of winter to have the undercarriage sprayed off as we get a lot of road salt January through February here in the midwest.

I use a mild soap by Zaino, which I also use their polishes, and find that with using their mild soap, I only have to polish once a year. I also polish as i just find that bug, mud, oils, etc., wash off the paint a lot easier.

A few polished vehicle pics (Tacoma, 4Runner, Jeep TJ) ... :D

I use the touchless carwash in the winter to get some of the salt off. My wife does the interior.... I sit and critique.
