    yeah, yeah.....

I have about 600 images on the camera, here's a few from the trip. I could have spent an entire summer out there just exploring the back roads and old trails. I've honestly started looking for work out there.

The iconic Crystal Mill. It was a bit difficult to find, but worth the trip.

The sleeping platform worked ok, being the 1st one that I've ever built. I have a list of improvements to do if I make a version 2.

One shameless 'flex' shot... The pics don't do much justice to show the steepness of the trails. I was coming down from Engineer Pass, I would guesstimate a 15-20% grade that is covered in shale dust on top of rocks.. I used low range, trans in 1st gear position to get some engine braking to avoid melting the brake rotors. I completely cooked the brakes few times and I was done with it.

The log book math shows about 35 hrs of actual driving time each way. I left on Monday afternoon around 6pm and got into Gunnison CO around 5pm on Wed. The gas- I really don't want to know how much I spent on fuel, it was a lot. About 8 tanks each way ( 15 gallon capacity on the 4runner, I probably averaged 13-14 gals per refill.) Gas is expensive in CO, 85 Octane was around $4/gallon, 88 Octane was around $4.50/gal. I never had issues finding gas, it was just painful to swipe the credit card. I stayed at KOA in a "tent" sections, it was $35/night in Gunnison and $50/night in Ouray. To put things into perspective- the cheapest room at a roach motel was $175/night, 'brand name' hotels were around $250/night. Highways- "F" pennsyl-tucky and their turnpike (toll), I-70 ( on the map) isn't really I-70 north of Hagerstown, it's I-76 ( turnpike) that isn't properly marked as such. I went to the 70/68 split and took I-68 into Morgantown, then north on I-77 through Wheeling into Ohio where you can merge onto I-70.

It was a great trip, the 4runner did extremely well. It had more trail capabilities then I did. I would recommend a trip to the West to anyone, Colorado is just gorgeous with a big Varity of terrains. Utah and New Mexico are equally beautiful in their own ways. I would have loved to be able to down to Durango and into NM. The only trail that I didn't run was the Black Bear Pass. I had a ton of anxiety on some of the shelf trails that I ran solo, quiet a few local guides that I spoke with on the trails all told me the same thing- don't go on that trail alone, you NEED a spotter. I took their advise so that I can come back better prepared for the next adventure.

I've been out to Ouray when I was in college a few years ago. It's real nice, we just drove through.

Finally got to use the winch today. Was water crossing through a flooded road by my house and then someone actually tried in an Equinox and it flooded. Winched him out then left cause im not mechanically inclined on auto starts.

Then realized my fan shroud hit the radiator and caused pinholes so I got it pulled and will be putting a new one in tomorrow. I just took some copper in today before all that and now that will find the new radiator.

Meh I chock it up learning the truck. It's a 96 and was never driven much before me so I feel decent replacing the old stuff and getting into the truck.

Glad it was right down the street rather than my first high water crossing.

Not sure, I found it while online shopping for a cabin style couch. HD was the cheapest and free shipping. Couch is made in Oklahoma and seems well made, plenty of positive reviews. Now that Ive seen it in person I have to order the matching loveseat.

I delivered the old couch & loveseat to a buddy this morning. I'm glad that I found someone to take them. I didn't want to have to haul'em back to Baltimore.

Is this too kinked for my return hose on the radiator? Don't want to fill it if it's gonna cause problems.
