Have you washed the smell off your hands from picking those up yet?

If you've never dealt with black walnuts before, read about juglone.

 

I just grabbed them by the stems. I hear they stink, stain everything, and prevent growth of other plants nearby. A month from now there will be a bunch more on the ground so Ive read.

 

Yeah, that's the gist of it.

You can harvest the nuts to eat, but getting through the husk is a chore. My grandparents used to spread them across their gravel driveway and drive over them until the husks disintegrated. Black walnuts have a much stronger flavor than English walnuts (what you find at the grocery store)... I never cared for them.

Bonus trivia: This is what a black walnut shell looks like after a squirrel has deposited it in the engine bay of an '05 Civic 5MT and it has settled into a position next to the shift linkage such that it is no longer possible to shift into reverse.

Since I forgot my seals at the Fresno storage, I'll bring them with me next week and use the lift at my work for the last time.

I'll be found in the bay working on my 4R; what are they gonna do...fire me?

 

Gonna do the axle seal? Having it on a lift will make pounding in the seal so much easier I would imagine

 

Haha the amount of awkward work positioning prevented by having a lift makes a huge difference time wise

 

I must've tried 20 different ways of positioning myself on the ground to try and get a decent angle on pounding the seal in before I gave up

 

Do you have a seal driver set? It makes the position a little more flexible

 

Yeah I got a kit for it but it didn't really seem to help, I remember thinking if I tried hitting any harder I would likely damage it. But maybe I should've anyway, not like the axle drive method is any easier on it lol.

I'm consider putting one where this Audi is. I'd also like one on the shop but the ceiling height would prevent me from doing a lot with the Ford

Not mine, but yes. I wonder how often he gets pulled for it... It's mostly a show car. It has a nice shaved engine bay
