Beef and Bordeaux. New York sirloin bone in. 2015 Bordeaux. A little shrimp tomatoes and jalapeños in a pouch over rice. And of course grilled corn on the cob in the husk. upload_2021-8-20_23-17-13.jpg

Drugs must grow way (much more)better in hotter climates that climate change made.

yeah we learned the hard way (again) that you can’t tame that kind of wilderness. We certainly weren’t the first to try. Probably won’t be the last either.

Yep. It's akin to searches in the Sierra. You send 1000's of people to look for someone who is most likely deceased. The terrain is vast and rugged. You even have a general location of the victim. 10000's of man hours are put in and no body is found. Years or decades later someone accidentally hikes by the remains.

Now, imagine that in an area 100 times larger with a "victim" that is alive and actively hiding from the searchers. No fucking chance.

Speaking of the Sierras, more than a few people get lost just in the ski resorts every year. Go out of bounds, don't tell anyone and...poof. Shit goes down and there isn't anyone coming for hours and that's IF they get word, you have RECCO, and they know a general area.

We were skiing in fresh deep powder one time and my friend did a jump and went off the trail a little bit fell headfirst and was buried with his shins up sticking out. We had a good laugh about it but we had to dig him out. He never would’ve made that alone.

The ground yellow jacket nest that I poured boiling hot water on two weeks ago was dug up by a raccoon or skunk.

Exactly. First rule is always go with someone, if not a group, especially backcountry. Heard too many stories of people not making it back because of one simple slip, freak avalanche due to a loose snowbase, or getting lost. Many years back there was a doctor who went in the Chutes at Mt Rose here in NV when they were closed. Triggered an avalanche and it swept him to the bottom and buried him underneath who knows how many feet of snow. Didn't find him till the next day and he was within throwing distance of the road and lifts
