Try the search function and see what you come up with. ECU chips have been discussed many times on this forum, and you should be able to get a lot of info. with a good search.

Oh, and stay away from the EBAY "+200HP and 20MPG" chips. They're actually coasters in fancy packaging. :)

I did a lot of lookin around, there's almost nothing to do to a toyota.
I always look to tune up my cars.. sometimes they do a pretty bad job with their programs, run it too safe due to manufacturing inconsistancies.. get it tuned up and usually pick up some efficiency. Apparently no one is doing this on tacomas.. Every time I've been to the dyno with a toyota it's always had aftermarket ecu. Can't just plug a "predator" type handheld into a toyota and reprogram it like you can some vehicles.
    OR so it seems.

those inline chips they sell are unreliable and not a good idea in general. Ghetto stuff... add a vornado and turbonator to the list.

The chips just try to trick the computer into having too little air and fuel or advance or something...

I have a UNICHIP sitting on my coffee table, waiting for the temperature to warm up a lil to put it in. And before any decides to say suck it up and do it, It's literally -39 and -44 with the wind chill here.

Dont do unichip after a while it will f&*k your truck up. It will start to throw lights and will, down the road, disable your truck while your driving. Customer service is bullshit and all the chips are made in South Africa. Only the maps are programed here.

Pretty much worthless on an NA vehicle with just bolt ons. Spend your money on something else.

You drive a truck, not a race car so who gives a shit about how much HP you have?

got anymore info on this? like 99% of everything I found while researching before I bought it was all wild rave good reviews. Its already bought now I'm just amazed I would've missed something like that if it was such a common issue.

JK...I don't trust perfomace chips hear a lot of bad things about them. I think all they do is raise your top speed.

I would like to see a real dyno run myself. An 8% to 10% horsepower increase is quite a lot from headers and an intake.
