Bigger gap is better. Easier to stick your head and arms in to adjust shocks if necessary

You don’t jack the truck up for that? 1” cut and 315/70’s

Not when out testing and tuning turning bypass valves and compression adjusters.

37x12.5’s and I’ve taken at least 2” out of the already larger fiberglass flares. But I had to cut them to clear tires at full bump. It’s just an added bonus that there’s room to work in there when necessary.

But what happens if your compressing and the wheel is turned?

I’m just saying I still rub at times.

Lots of bolt on chrome stuff
Even my 305/65r17's rubbed the stock fender. They were the same diameter as most 285/70r17's, which of course is shorter than your 285/75r17's. Fender clearance looked good in the driveway, but they self clearanced at the top of the wheel well on some harder hits. Of course the cab mount and pinch weld needed the standard treatment too.

I ended up trimming 2.25" which I don't think looked funny with the 33's, but it was really part of getting ready for 35's. 2" probably looks good with a 34" tire.

Didn’t rub. It was a trailer queen so it got wheeled hard. It’s kinda mind boggling if y’all are cutting 2” for 285’s. I believe it but would love to know how unless they aren’t upgrading the bump stops too and using the shock as a bump stop which could let the wheel compress slightly more

I don’t know dude. Bumps upgraded. I actually was pulling in to a dirt lot just last night near a train track and didn’t see a little whoop and was turned to park and got a little rub. Was going like 20 mph.

Ok, this thread hasn't been touched in a long time. But I've got a question for the -38 offset crowd. I've got a 2nd gen with 1.5 inches of front lift, running 265/70r17 ko2's. I know most people are running 285's. How much rub would I get with running the -38 offset with my current tire size and lift. I really want a set of the dark bronze.

Have you done a cab mount or anything else for clearance. For 275 your likely fine. too bad you weren’t in CA I may have a set of Dk bronze for sale soon.

No cab mount chop done, hasn't been needed. With a 265, I'm thinking the rubbing would be minimal.

Personally, with a 1.5" lift and 265s, I recommend going with the 17x8.5 -10mm spec. The poke won't be as aggressive, you won't need a CMC, and it keeps the overall look more proportional.
