I didn’t know either. I went up to ice house to play guitar and chill for a few hours unplugged.

Trip Report: Made it back this weekend from Pinecrest Peak.

Overall, pretty easy set of trails up & down from the peak.
Only needed 4wheel drive in some of the rockier spots near the top, just to help traction a bit.
A few spots with soccer ball size boulders, but overall a good beginner trail.

Seemingly lots of branches and different tracks you can take once up at altitude. Gaia had a pretty good representation of what was up there.
Good amount of people camping (or maybe living) out there, so I definitely wouldn't qualify it as remote.

It probably took me ~45 minutes to get to the peak once I turned off 108.
Views at the top were pretty impressive. Smoke in the air wasn't too bad...at least i could see Pinecrest.

We were adopted by a little guy last night. Last night wasn't too good for sleep. And today was about keeping the introductions to the rest of the pack civil.

Daily drive was postponed to another day.

So... a little more info on the little pup. I was in Atwater, we were doing some plumbing repairs on my ex-sister in law's house. She had a contractor completely screw up two of her shower valves and bounce. So we were replacing those.

Sometime in the late afternoon, that little dude showed up. Looked like he had been out and about for a while. Being he was completely black, I was concerned about him getting hit... and also where we were at, he would have pretty much ended up as Coyote bait. (Sister in law lives in the outskirts of Atwater). One of my sons asked around the neighborhood, and he walked him around to see if he would go to any of the houses, and nothing.

So, at that point we brought him home. My oldest has now, taken him in to see if he was chipped... nope. So, I guess we have a new member of the clan. So far, he's been accepted by all but 1 of our dogs (actually our daughter's dog).

So... recap of my weekend. About 6 hours of charity plumbing. And a charity dog adoption... being a bleeding heart is exhausting.

@cbechtold I know the adapters and case you have were from a used setup, but did you change out all the bearings for new when you built it up to put in your rig?

Everything else outside of the transmission adapter and housing were brand new parts.

Does that mean, the bearing that did fail was not replaced?

There's not much you can do with alignment with those cases. It either fits and works or it doesn't. You'll know real soon if it doesn't by the means of it all blowing up or something breaking.

He did get like 5 years out of it though so who knows.

Like Ian said, not much I can do with the alignment. It mostly comes down to the design of the bearing being and fill row style bearing. There's a stronger bearing made for crawl box, but I'm looking at a 6 month wait time and I just can't wait that long for that. Took what I could get and I'm just going to run with the original bearing I got from Marlin when I first build it.

    Goofy.

How does that go bad unless it’s a bad bearing, right?

Or it got hot. Too much fluid maybe?
