Maybe he doesn't have a sub-woofer in the back? I've also tried to fit my intermediate in the back seat with the seat folded down. As far as I can tell the truck door and bottom of the seat are just in the way...would need to remove the bottom of the truck seat to slide it in.

I’ve been thinking about this. We let our dog travel loose in the three vehicles, minivan, Tacoma and Tundra (in the bed, both with shells). I’ve been thinking about a kennel we could use for all 3. Saw a Gunner last winter but got stressed by the price tag. Ruffland is more in line with the price I’d like but not sure if I’d regret it down the road. The Tundra has tons of bed space but the Tacoma is pretty tight. I’ll keep mulling it over I guess.

    Great thread.
I'm in the market for a Gunner intermediate for a 60 lb Lab I have coming (a working dog) and would like to know how that crate would fit if I took the rear seat out of my 2020 4 door Tacoma.
I'll need heat and air for her. We may have to travel sometimes and I want her comfortable. I have a cap, but that's not an option.

Anyone have any insight or a set up like I described?

How big is your doggo? I have 3 60 lb lab and hound mixes that fit in the intermediate which I can fit in the back of my 4 door with the seats down.

No bigger than 60. Intermediate seems like the proper size. I’ll get a weight on him tonight. Thanks for the info.

Anytime. If there is a way you could test one then you could see if he can turn around in it. That is the main thing. Good luck!

I’ve been all over the place with dog kennel options. I love my boys, but I don’t want their hair in the truck. I want them to be safe, so crash tested kennels were a must. Whether it was Gunner, Lucky Duck, or Ruffland, two larges just don’t fit in the bed of the truck unless you rotate them length-wise which is a huge pain- or building a platform.

Stupid me though… I never thought that they could just hang on to the tailgate a few inches. Duh… I mean, just strap ‘em in tight and get a bed extender for a couple hundred dollars and they’ll be solid. My lucky duck kennels just arrived today and they fit great. They extend on the tailgate just a few inches. More pictures to come once I have them secured in properly and the bed extender added.

Medium Gunner in the cab of a 2019 and 2 intermediates in the bed. Raising one allows two to fit side by side

Anyone been able to fit 2 kennels/cages inside the cab so that it can be air conditioned?

I didn’t realize this thread was a thing back when I built out my setup. But yes I fit two intermediate kennels in my double cab. Do know that I had to completely remove my backseats and back wall plastics as well. One has a side door and is mounted longwise and the other is a standard and faces the door. It’s very tight but it works super well for us!

    Why not switch the positions?

    This is awesome.

Anyone been able to fit two similar kennels but without taking anything out?

I'm not super tall and don't need the extra legroom. My seating position is fine as is, I figured the passenger on long trips would want to move their seat back for a nap or be able to recline (driver obviously stays in the same position). You could also put both of them facing the seat and back wall, but then you lose any seat reclining ability for both seats. It works for my wife and I personally, but it may not if you're tall and need the drivers seat all the way back.

I know this is super old, but where did you have your kennel cover made? It's exactly what I'm looking for.
