SLOW DOWN! DO NOT PANIC BUY!

Importers have until the 7th to file permits to bring in as much ammo as possible and have two years to bring it all. Prices are not going to skyrocket if we hold the line. Most ammo comes out of Ukraine and they've already banned Russian ammo. This is likely a publicity stunt to get ammo prices up again. We just got back down to pre-covid levels! Spread the word!

Depends on the brand. A lotta Wolf is Russian, Barnaul, Tulammo, even some Red Army Standard. It's definitely going to put a kink in things if the Yugos and Ukrainians and Czechs don't pick up the pace. Always wondered why we don't import more from places like Poland or Hungary or other Eastern Euro companies.

We probably don’t get a lot of “cheaper” ammo from other countries because they can’t compete with low price of Russian steel cases ammo. Different manufacturers will fill the void, but it will take time

Jim isnt wrong but also alot of ammo in the usa is steel made in russia, across many calibers so its going to suck for a while....

ill still buy more aks and shoot mine but it has become a more cost to play game now when before you can get $6 boxes all day, and 10-13$ subs/box

wrong time to be buying AKs, but I did anyway. Picked up an unconverted Saiga in .223, my first Saiga. Dammit, why did I do this, now I'll have 3 different types of mags in .223, with my ARs and my Mini.

The gun show in Belton had a few interesting things, the same vendor had an unconverted Saiga .308 I was lusting after as well.

no such thing as wrong time to be buying aks, especially ones not imported anymore, going forward it just wont be cheap to shoot for a while

if it makes you fizz in the pants, thats all that matters

this is how they push gun control by slowly removing availability of ammo

Don't really care about the garbage Russian ammo, but I was very sad when Wolf primers got put on the sanction list years ago.

I'm still salty about the 7N6 ban from years back.

I’ve never had an AK but have been considering it. Is there a specific reason not to go with a US made AK? From the reviews I’ve watched and read the PSA AK103 gets great reviews. This platform is just simply unknown to me

Yes actually. American made AKs are still built on new tooling and haven’t perfected the manufacturing techniques like the East Combloc countries where they’ve had decades to perfect it. At the end of the day a PSA ak103 is still a PSA who make ok rifles. For the same price you can get a Yugo or a WASR and have better build quality. To the untrained eye though you’ll never notice a difference until you fire both at the same time

Very good, this is the kind of info I need to read. I tend to be skeptical of reviews as I’m never sure how influenced they are by sponsorships. Are there ones you may trust like the AKOU or any others? I’m fairly well versed with n the AR platform but this is new to me. Whether I actually buy one or not I still find it interesting. Thanks

Gun lore is always 20 years in your past, I wanted a Volmer HK51 FA for 5800 in 85 no money for something that crazy. In 1998 when the yugo complete kits and ak 74 kits came in at 200$ I jumped on a few. You can still find yugo kiys for 600 with a crappy US barrel added at extra cost. Story is you want something do it right then, don't waiti!

current importers will have to renew at some point, and then denied.
