How is correcting misleading information divisive? No one said wash your truck this way or else, people simply sharing how often, the method and why one way may be better than the other. There is no debate that hand washing your vehicle is by far better than an automatic or even touchless wash, don't see how expressing that is divisive, it's your truck do what works for you, no one said otherwise once here. When you come in and make comments about divisiveness it changes the tone right away. Just because someone posts something misleading or inaccurate and someone corrects them doesn't make it divisive.

Yikes! I would avoid these types of car washes at all costs. Terrible for the paint.

To answer your question, I hand wash my truck once a week. Been doing that on my vehicles for years.

In the winter if i can't make it to my garage or weather is too shitty, i'll take it to a spray car wash and just hose the belly from all the salt and road grime, at least once a week

didn't read the whole 8 pages.... to each their own but the guy claiming he only hand washes then blow dries with I guess a lawn blower is comical. Yea, that's better, suck some dirty air and grass to blow it off..... or hand wash and hand dry? Me I'll live with automation car washes.

Not sure what kind he uses, but I have an electric (plug in) leaf blower. It has a small turbine fan but a grate over it ensuring it doesn't suck anything into the air it blows out of the machine. Works for me..

i wash mine once or twice a week. Alot of the time its a rinseless wash if it isnt to dirty with ONR, if it has been in a few rainstorms I do a regular bucket wash with foaming the truck up first. it gets a proper blow dry with my plug in master blaster or I use my makita cordless blower. Usually takes me about 2hrs for a quick wash and 3hrs if i do a standard bucket wash. Just cause people do it properly its funny how the numbnuts on the forum bash you if you do a proper wash, but if you make your truck look ridiculous with all kinda metal atrocities on the front they are praised for bing bad ass but i bet 80% are posers. Or with the wheels that dont fit aka stick out past the fender and looking like a stupid ass rollerskate

On the previous car, I have been used such type of washing as you have shown in the pics, but I had discovered one BIG disadvantage - my windshield wipers become significantly imbalanced.. Just if I put them on a slightly wet windshield they started a little hang out along the windshield. It causes because of the mechanical impact of the rotating brush that washes the hood and windshield. After this, I avoid automatic car washes...

I agree, yeah it is a personal choice but hand washing, when done properly, is superior to any other method. But I must also say a lot of people damage their paint while handwashing and drying by using dirty towels and sponges, or by rubbing the dirt all over the paint (which swirls the clear coat). Strictly based on swirls, IMO a touchless autowash and not wiping the excess water causes less swirls than an average Joe hand washing.

Gotta love all the people who buy off-roading gear for their truck but are so worried about the paint they only hand wash and blow dry

I hand wash mine every couple of weeks, towel dry but I’m going to try blower next time.
I thing I found really helpful is the two bucket method with second bucket being clear so you can see how clean the water is. I bought (chemical guys) one of those things you put in a bucket, wipe your mit/wash mat on in the bucket and all the dirt goes below it. It actually works, in clear bucket you can see dirty water below and clean water above. Best thing is the clear bucket as you realize how dirty your water is a points.

I’ m referring to demeaning, derogatory comments made by one forum member to another over matters of personal choice as an example of divisiveness.

You seem to be fixated on trying to argue about the pros/cons of hand washing versus automatic car washing—a topic I never weighed in on.

To everyone that hand washes, how is wiping potentially abrasive particles off better than removing it with high pressure water?

I use a spray only car wash once a month. Usually by the time I’m home it is already dirty again.

That's a good looking truck. Where's all the swirl marks and ruined paint everyone's talking about?
