Welp trucks clean and I decided to dig into the beater for a couple minutes. Crossed my fingers the new TPS would work as I've seen conflicting information. It did indeed work and we're back in business for now. Drives much better, but I'll have to do a relearn procedure. Next order of business I guess is to take apart some of the suspension and get welding...

Years ago my wife was like...."we gotta get a Dcab so we can all ride in your truck when we need to" (had a RC at the time). In fact, she's the reason I have one. She really pushed it. Even saw my current rig on the lot and said "you should buy that one. It's nice". So I did.

I bet we haven't ridden in it together 10 times in 6 years....and most of those times it wasn't 100% necessary. We could have taken the car. A couple of times I've had some friends back there.

But for the most part it's proved to be a bust. I really like my rig. But my 4 cyl, 5-speed RC was a better fit for what I use a truck for, if I'm being completely honest.

3rd gen double cabs can hold 13 16oz beers in the doors and center/back console. Not that I'd do such :spy:

For what I do with my current RC it's enough. But if I used it like an actual truck... AC or bigger to haul all my stuff. Between the toilet paper, wd40, Maine atlas, and recovery stuff... I need a back seat area for real truck stuff. Not to mention I can't put a break action shotty in the RC easily for bird hunting. Especially with the bench....

Little midget update. Decided the original hood was too far gone and started sanding the spare hood. It went from red to blue, and the paint was so thick I was hardly making any progress with the hand sander. Threw some paint stripper at it for a couple hours and it barely touched the blue... I'm guessing at some point it had a lacquer base paint rolled on like five coats thick. 90E215E2-C1D9-41A3-A7E9-1781F1854B1F.jpg0C9AEAE4-744C-41E6-B45A-497841B2FC1C.jpg
