After years of hoping and wishing, I can finally check something off my bucket list. Have a black bear charge at you-CHECK!
This wasn’t something like “ You saw a bear and he was 50 feet away, you’re over reacting” kind of thing. I could have hit him in the nose with my cane. I didn’t see him and I think I surprised him. He lunged out of some high weeds about 10 feet away from me. He charged and about 5 feet away, he planted his front feet and turned 90 degrees to the right. I grabbed my pistol and fired one round in his direction. Didn’t really aim, I didn’t want to hit him anyway. I thought to myself, I still have two legs, two arms and clean underwear. Then I was like that was “COOL”!

i missed a juvenile bear by about 2 minutes earlier this summer. I went to take the dog out for her morning routine, sipped my coffee, and took the dog back in. Second later my phone lights up with a ring doorbell notification. I figure "oh it saw me or (dog)," but I load it up anyway and HOLY CRAP THAT'S A BEAR. Look at timestamp: woah! So I have a video of a bear nosing around my car.

It’s always awesome to see wildlife up close. I’ve crossed paths with black bears out in the wilderness several times. They very very rarely attack humans. Only time you need to be extra cautious is if you come upon a mama with Cubs or you venture into a kill site where they have a recent kill. Oh yeh don’t feed them either.
I’ve seen mountain lion twice and had one stalk my dog and I but no harm ever came. I’ve heard them scream at night. Now that is a scary sound.

We have about 15 black bears in our neighborhood. I live on a small peninsula and the concentration of bears is very high. Anyways, they're basically giant raccoons at this point and I've snuck up behind them and scared them off quite a few times. I also shoot them with large rubber tipped arrows to spook them off when there are multiple bears around a single trash can.

    What? No pics? Fail!

Yeah, I wouldn’t be reaching for my phone either. Cool story man! Glad it ended like it did.
