We are on the list at yard house. About an hour wait. I’m on the top level of the garage.

There are times when I regret commiting to so much work. This is one of them.

I'll make an appearance soon. Whether you like it or not.

Not just weight either. What about rolling with a crew, stopping for the night, and it takes them 2 hours to set up and 2 hours to break down (ie RTT, awnings, kitchen, etc etc). Then they are also stuck in one spot. I like the freedom of jumping in the back and still being able to use my truck. Recently found a $9 sleeping bag to finally wrap the memory foam roll I’ve been sleeping on. That’s all scrap wood from the garage. Use my ACCIDENTALLY stolen HyVee basket to collect kindling but also as my “nightstand”. Everything stays put while driving and my storage bin slides right under with my folded camp table snug in front. Middle part of bed frame lifts so I can access storage while tailgate is closed. It’s not pretty but I love it.

    Nice simple setup!

That basket looks more liberated or commandeered rather than stolen, if you ask me

Nice set up. The basket was secured because it was left unattended. You are just keeping it safe.

Fantastic! Where do you push off down there? Kaw Point? Riverfront park? I’ve not done it but this is on my bucket list.

I ran into lots of issues through out the process plus I had to go out to a friends house to press bushings in which took awhile then had to wait for a friend to show me how to rebuild my cv boots since I’ve never done it and as I said I ran into issues

I got the other side done today but I had to replace the passenger cv the threads got destroyed so I tried saving the threads for 2 hours and then gave up and went and bought a new cv and again I’ve never replaced that before so that was a learning process as well

Yeah Kaw Point to LaBenite park.

it’s a good one to do with a group, the Missouri is easy but when things happen it is unforgiving and can get dangerous in a hurry. Bridge pylons still make me nervous when I see the trees wrapped around them…

Breaking down a rtt is really easy once you have done it enough awnings ain’t to bad now if they have a room connected then ya it will take forever!

I can imagine. I’ve sat down there many times and am astonished how quickly the current can pick up, and of course it always looks calmer from the banks. So cool that you all did this - thanks for sharing pics!

For sure! Definitely depends on setup (and preference). Plenty of people have quick RTT setups. I just see increasingly more people with awnings, walls, annexes, full kitchen, etc. Super cool for a base camp but I’d rather spend the additional time traveling further during my short vacation stints. Plus it’s my commuter and there’s nothing better than sneaking into my softopper and taking a nap in the parking lot over lunch break.

Haha that works as well idk if my work would have been happy with me opening my tent to take a nap lol

my setup isn’t bad since I run with a trailer so I can ditch it and go play and explore the only thing that’s slow is opening it and getting my grill out (that’s my fault thou I still haven’t put struts in it :anonymous:)

We should start a hobo overland club that prides itself on super fast setup and teardown. Have timed matches in the wild.
