3 inch level kit. Magnaflow exhaust.
Was wondering what everyone's thoughts were with how big I can go on a 4 cyclinder with tires.currently have 245 and was looking at 285/75r16 knowing I will need to trim around to fit. Think my 4 banger can handle it ?

It can handle it, sure. With the appropriate gearing. Definitely will want to get 5.29's with that size. You definitely won't be the first off the line.

Don’t be surprised if on the highway you get passed by a kite. Those E load tires are pretty heavy probably 6 ply C load would be best.

It will handle it if you are ok with 0-60 in 60 seconds and a top speed of 60 mph.

There was a 4 cyl. gen3 taco here near my home with huge wide tires, and a 6'' lift. One day i was behind him. This guy driving it had the motor wound up to the moon to make it up the steep dirt incline on the road leading to the highway. Why anyone would do such a stupid thing i have no idea. They say 1 out 4 folks are mentally unbalanced.

The max I would do is 265/70. And you won’t need to regear. The truck already has a tough time passing on hwy. remember that’s just my opinion.

plus you can find 265/70 cheap since most Tacoma off road owners swap for bigger tires

Depends on what you want to do. For highway driving you're going to be slow. For running errands around town where you're not going to be driving over 40-45 mph anyway, and off road driving where you're likely to be in low range they won't be much of a handicap. The 4 cylinder engines come with much lower gears anyway which helps offset the lack of power. It works pretty well under the above conditions.

265/75 16 would be my choice.

Still looks decently big with your 3" lift (per your avatar notes). Not a huge power loss, not a big hit in mpgs. Common size, readily available. Spare still fits in stock location if you upsize the spare to match.

I wouldn't go any bigger, personally.

I would go with a 265/75R16. Any bigger and the 4 banger really struggles without regearing

    I have 265/75r16's and I get 18-20 mpg's. Perfect size for the 4 banger.

A pic if you want for the 265/70/17 size, tires are P-Rated Cooper RuggedTreks. I have a Eibach Stage 1 kit (bottom notch) as well too. I get 19-20 MPG and drive a 60 mile round trip M-F with some decent sized hills throughout. ECT PWR and S5/S6 are your friend

I had 265/75R16s (load range E) on my '09 4 banger. Got just over 25 mpg, except when in 4wd.

Agreed. The 265/75/16 Duratracs are C Load, 6 ply tires. And no rubbing stock.

Its not worth it, man. 285s are barely worth it on a v6 with a regear.

Mines a turd, fully build truck 5.29s DCSB that i converted to 4x4. Was never made from factory because of weight. That being said i can still maintain 70 on highway but i manually shift gears and going up slight inclines suck lol.
