I thought it was the sensor for the 'tip over' side air bag. The one you can turn off when in 4x4

 

Ok, haha finally read the whole thing. It's obviously not an actual airbag or sensor since there is nothing under there but a bolt. I believe it is just stamped because it was a convenient place to stamp for airbags so instead of making a different head liner for trucks with the side curtains (like earlier trucks with the headliner stamped), now they just have to make the little cover. As for its purpose, I believe because it is only on air bag trucks then it is not a handle mounting point. I am going to have to concur with others that it is intended to hold the headliner up in case of airbag deployment where the normal mounting will be messed up.

 

I'm with you 100% here. People these days are afraid to touch something because they might break it. I learned how to wrench on cars from not being afraid to actually get my hands dirty and figuring stuff out for myself. Have I broken a few things over the years and had to pay extra money to fix them? SURE, but I learned a lot of valueable hands-on experience. I have saved myself far more money working on my vehicles myself than I have spent in fixing a few things I accidentally broke.

When I was 15 years old, I didn't know shit about working on cars. I started tinkering when I turned 16 and reading forums. I'm 25 now and Have more engine swaps under my belt than I can count, Changed more clutches than I can count. Put a custom turbo kit on my last car, and have helped countless friends and family work on their vehicles.
