Just had mine done this morning. Had no leaking but figured I’d get it done anyway. Took less than an hour. Here’s a few before and after pics. Dealer noted to not wash vehicle for 24hrs

Just had mine done. It took roughly an hour including a window seal repair which was completely unrelated but happened to be timed well.

I was hesitant simply because I'd not experienced any leaks before this. They explained that they did not see any evidence of leaks in mine but the original setup was bound to leak over time and went on to explain the types of things they've seen in other vehicles and what they do for that.

He then explained that there's a new gasket that goes in with this along with some sealant.

I was also instructed to not use the car wash for 24 hours after this repair was done. Although after getting this done I see some others in this thread didn't get said advice and immediately went to the car wash.

Well the recall campaign only goes to 2019 model years so I'm not sure that would be necessary

Even better. I went to pick up my truck after the job was done, only to find my truck completely washed by the service the department. You can't make this stuff up.

    Getting mine done right now.
    No leaks…don’t want any.
I hope this is the end of it, I’m glad it was finally addressed by Toyota.

Dealer will not perform the work with the cap on; nor provide the parts. Leaves three choices - 1) if not leaking just wait as the campaign goes for a few years. 2) scheduled service and remove cap beforehand. 3) buy the parts and submit for reimbursement which I think is an option.

I went to submit for reimbursement via the website last night. They want 3 pieces of information uploaded. Proof of purchase on the new part, proof of vehicle ownership and repair details. Not sure what repair details they need as of yet, I figured I’ll write a note that I did it myself and scan that in. I also didn’t have a pic of my registration anyways.

I'm taking mine in later this week for the light seal and the fuel pump. They mentioned something to me about keeping it out of the rain for a day or so after it is done. My truck sits outside, so I suppose I can cover the area or see if I can back it partially under our carport (we keep the tractor and gardening supplies in there) if they call for rain. Anyone else told to keep the light dry after the service was done?

FYI -- I am scheduled Thursday for both like you and they told me a quarter tank or less takes less time to do the fuel pump . They told me 2 hours total to get them done .

Ya they told me that as well. But my truck needed filled up last week (before I made the appointment) and I work from home. So it has been sitting mostly. I tried driving around a bit over the weekend to run it lower, but not sure if I am going to get it down that low. I tried lol. I am dropping off Thursday and then picking it up after work Friday, so hopefully all is good.

I had this done on my 2016 back in April when it was just a TSB and not an actual recall, but so glad to see they finally did the right thing for everyone. I figured I was SOL back then because I didn't find the leak until after I had aged out of warranty but I went through Toyota corporate first and they ended up covering the whole thing. Posted about my experience in another thread and I've copied it below. Here's to hoping that my case was another data point that pushed them to actually do a recall.

Updating this post with more data that hopefully gives anyone else with this issue some hope. I have a 16, I found the leak after I had aged out of 3/36 because the truck sits in the garage every night, rarely ever drove it in rain and I hand washed it. I had tried to seal it myself because I initially didn't even want to hassle with trying to get Toyota to goodwill repair it out of warranty and saw some of the other posts here with people getting legitimate claims denied, but the seal didn't hold and with an upcoming week long road trip this summer, did not want to deal with this issue anymore especially with my daughter's car seat back there now. Note that I didn't get any extended warranty, only the factory warranties and I service the truck myself so it has only been to the dealership for the ToyotaCare free oil changes and the blower motor recall. I literally was probably more of a long shot than most on here but I gave it a try anyway expecting nothing.

I actually started by raising a case with Toyota (1-800-331-4331). Mentioned as politely and calmly that I could that I had this issue, that I was out of warranty by age but by mileage not too far (42k), that I was concerned about mold buildup with my young daughter sitting back there now, and how irritated I was that the dealers nor Toyota refuse to send notice to affected VINs when TSBs get issued (we all know why they don't) and that I was inquiring to see if Toyota would be able to offer any financial assistance. The Toyota rep had me take it to a dealer for an official diagnosis (I picked Texas Toyota Grapevine in Dallas because I bought from there) and I gave the dealer my case number when I dropped it off, and was hands off from there. The Toyota rep worked with the dealer directly to confirm the issue was related to the TSB and to estimate the costs so they could make a decision on any offer they would extend. I was totally expecting a back and forth because I figured Toyota would make some half ass offer, but to my surprise their first offer was to cover parts and labor and that I'd be responsible for tax and shop supplies. As hard nosed as I initially was about getting Toyota to pay for it all considering it was an issue the truck had from the factory, I was so shocked at how easy it was that I accepted the offer. From the initial call to Toyota to picking up the truck today was 2 weeks. When I picked up the truck today, I got another surprise when the dealer decided to cover tax and shop supplies as well, so I genuinely paid $0 for a $695 repair and I'm out of warranty. Obviously, the fact that there was a TSB for this significantly helped my chances here.

This is a fact they asked me if I wanted it done when I brought mine in for service and I looked at the rep and then pointed to my GFC and he just said never mind.
