I get the cricket chirp that happens when my foot is off the clutch. From what I understand that's the input bearing? I thought throwout bearing issue is when it makes noise when you push the clutch.

Anyway mine hasn't had the chirp in awhile but it comes and goes

Eh it could be both. But usually on second gens push clutch in and the noise goes away it’s throat bearing

well hell they actually don’t have pilot bearing soo

I've seen so many threads on it stating both ways, but when I look up 'noise that goes away when you press the clutch" outside of TW I usually see mention of the input bearing where the TOB is said to do the opposite.

I dunno, whatever it is it's kind of annoying but I've learned to live with it. Had 2 new clutches/bearings on this truck and both have done it. Don't think I've ever heard of a failure due to it on this forum, not with 1st gens anyway. Dunno about 2nd gens.

Also it's probably been a year since I've heard it so maybe it fixed itself lol.

I'll probably get it on my way home now

talked to a Yota mechanic who said it happens on almost every 1st gen, especially those that have had an aftermarket clutch replacement because the throw out bearing is not as good

I’m sure I’ll be doing a clutch soon enough on this thing… once I start driving it… it’s been 7 years since I’ve owned a manual

I had it on the OG stock clutch as well as the stock clutch currently in it, installed at Toyota. Even the OEM bearing sucks lol.

Wonder if that's just an R150 issue... didn't have that probably on my truck when I bought it (and the PO burnt all the clutch material off cause had a dead cylinder lol) nor with the Aisin Clutch kit I installed after the engine rebuild

It might be, I think every other case I've heard about was on the v6/R150 setup

The aisin clutch kits are kinda shit anyway. They use plastic hub spring retainers and the friction material glazes easily. Gotta say the Marlin kits are the best bang for the buck.

Knock on wood but 10k after the rebuild and the aiming clutch is just as strong as the day I installed it... doesn't the marlin kit use some Aisin components?

They made a conversion center mounted hydraulic throw out bearing/piston unit for those. That way you can throw out the slave cyl and fork too.

Nope. The marlin uses a modified aisin pressure plate, and a Seco clutch disc, harder spring and with more aggressive material. And some nachi bearings

I'm sure they will be, whether or not you can get an order in a timely manner might be another issue. I don't think they update stock on the website very often for older stuff either so probably best to call and ask

As long as you don't grenade the plastic spring retainers first haha

A 13 year old found a puffy looking Dorito in a bag of regular Doritos, got so many views on Tik Tok over it that she actioned it off and Doritos gave her $20k for it.

what a time to be alive
