Because there is never sand or dirt in a hand wash mitt/sponge.

No, there wont be as long as you know how to handwasher a car. But a touch carwash will always have dirt and sand on the brush.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned because I didn’t read through 12 pages but supposedly even touch less auto washes aren’t good because they have to use much heavier amounts of chemicals to compensate for the no touch which over time can damage paint

hand wash really is the way to go. I wash mine weekly and put 303 protectant on the rubber inside and out monthly (I live in AZ so this is a must), and wax bi-monthly

Monthly subscriptions. Most are $20 or less a month for unlimited washes. Unlimited actually being once a day per vehicle, at least the slew of them by me.

Accurate as well as recycled water, the point was made and was dismissed by some who insist its equal to hand washing.

I've found undercarriage sprayers horrible at their job for cleaning out mud and dirt, so never now.

I'd personally rather lay down with a pressure washer and spray it out myself. Especially when it's hotter than F*** out.

Hand washing also allows you to make sure every crevice is hit and if you are also washing the mechanical/undercarriage parts (aka the stuff that will rust) and not just the body/wheels it allows you to get a good eye on everything on your truck. A torn CV boot can go a hundred or two miles before it starts clicking depending on speed, grease, size of tear and environment. So being under there can turn what would be a full CV replacement into a cheap boot swap.

Exactly. But apparently there is some scientific research out there that says if you, “know how to hand wash a car” there will NEVER be sand or dirt on a mitt or sponge. I’m still waiting for the link to that study too.

What does this 20 a month include just a rinse job or a complete wash and wax.

Wash it in the driveway maybe twice a month depending on how dirty it is.

Often enough, (at least once a week), to where it influenced my decision of what house to buy. I will be setting up a wall mounted pressure washer and hose reel to enable hand washing all year round. Hand washing is the best, and if you aren't using a pressure washer for hand washing, get one asap because it is easily the best improvement to make to the hand washing process, better cleaning than a garden hose with way less water used.

SSO hybrid bumper, Warn winch, RCI skid trilogy, RRW sliders, everything in the cheap/free mods thread, and of course the frame recall work.
Every time I drive by one in my program - I get unlimited washes. No, I do not care what it does to the finish - it's a truck. It has dents and scratches from being actually used hard and trail driven. Here's a view of a front-end loader dumping 1600 pounds of rock into the bed.

I run mine through one of the “touchless” car washes once or twice a month. I didn’t wash my last truck (Ram 1500) that much and the undercarriage had some pretty bad rust when I traded it in with only 60K miles on it.

I may do it more than twice a month during the winter months due to salt…we’ll see as this upcoming winter will be my first full winter with the Tacoma.

Like someone else said, I’d rather keep it rust free with semi frequent washes and then repaint it in 10 years. I use the truck for everything you can think of so it’s not meant to be a fancy show car anyway.

If anyone is in the Orlando area there is a bikini car wash off University. The chicks all look pretty coked out but it’s fun to gawk at them then leave a shitty tip.

Some shafts use KY water base.....

    Others shafts use NGLI #2.

But most don't need lube. Only the bearings need lube.
