MT Accumulator Delete Mod (ADM) and BS Thread

Has anyone had an issue with the clutch pedal having like a little notchy feeling at the bottom? It doesnt happen right away when u get in the truck but after you drive it for a few miles … its almost like crunch and happens in the same spot of pedal travel

How did the bleeding go?

 

i havent done the mod yet .. truck started having this issue at 15k miles.

I finally got around to doing the accumulator delete mod yesterday (dremel hack), besides the bolts being a pain and the heat shield edges being sharp it was pretty easy.

I’ve only had the chance to drive maybe 6-10 miles but my reaction was...

It’s pretty hard for me to notice any difference. Am I alone in this? Or did I mess up some how? The only thing I feel like could have gone wrong was that I didn’t dremel a deep enough channel, but I just mimicked the images posted on TW so I doubt it.

 

RW it is NOT a huge difference. In a little while you will forget about it.

For me it is noticeable more subtly with clutch drop in higher gears. Clutch just engages. Not slowly engages. I don't do a lot of clutch drops in lower gears and lower speeds. Maybe why people don't notice a ton because they normally get off the clutch pedal a little slower.

 

It would be ideal to have a switch to flip between the two modes in the same truck. Without that it’s hard to “remember”. I also did not notice the difference and I did a full remove and bypass. But I’m happy that piece is gone and it was a fun rite of passage.

Haven’t heard of anyone putting it back in place. Not one.

 

Just completed this today. I replaced the accumulator with a hard line. It was an easy job that took a few hours primarily cuz the limited space for removing and reinstalling the components and shield.

I will say the difference is night and day. I can feel exactly where the clutch catches now, and it catches very early on. My shifts are so much smoother. Also, It doesn’t feel as heavy anymore when depressing the clutch. There’s a lot less resistance, which I kind of miss. I don’t think there’s air bubbles in my line either. I bled the clutch using the bottle and hose method, and it only took 3 pumps of the clutch to get all the air bubbles out.

I’d say this mod is well worth it. To me, the difference is fairly dramatic and immediately noticeable.

edit: I drove it for a bit longer and the clutch started stiffening up again. Guess it may take some time for the pressure to build up? Idk, but it feels great and I wouldn’t go back.

 

So today I had to drive 50+ miles mixed with city and highway and I’m starting to notice the difference. You were right that it is subtle, and I can definitely notice the drop you’re talking about in the higher gears. Overall I just feel more confident in my shifting and getting the responses I’ve been looking for. The effort was definitely worth while.

 

This echos my exact experience.
I wasn’t initially going to bother with this.. until I drove my truck and someone else's truck who had it done back to back. Once I drove the other truck, I immediately wanted the accumulator eliminated.
My buddy just drove mine, and he needed less than a mile to know he wanted his accumulator gone as well.
