    Unless I'm buying a NSX I'll only buy 4 cyl Hondas. I hate transverse mounted engines. A v6 crammed in the engine bay is bad enough longitudinal.

    The V6ers had oil leak problems. Rear main seal and some other strangely placed oil seal that I can't remember the name. Changing the right bank O2 sensor was a pain as I recall. The rear main oil seals lasted 60,000 miles then they started leaking like crazy. A replacement seal would last another 60,000 miles and need to be replaced.

    California in their goodness won a class-action lawsuit against Honda that made them fix it or awarded the owner something like $1,000 or $1,200 to get it fixed.

    The only transverse-mounted V6 that I enjoy working on is a VQ30. I truly enjoy working on those engines like I do a 5VZ.

    Though they don't require much maintenance and I haven't really needed to work on one since I started working with Toyotas.

    Too bad those days belong to the past.

    im kind of amazed how little I’ve had to do to my vq40. Last time I had the cover off was to change the plugs 60,000 miles ago. It doesn’t even smell oily under the hood.

    having grown up around 90s chevys, this is kind of mind blowing :laughing:

    The first V6 I worked on regularly too. Don't really miss the dumb injectors though.

    The Toyotas we have are more reliable without the side feed o-ring and plastic pintle caps. I actually published a tutorial on how to refurbish those side feeders.. A few people did it. I have a set running that I refurbished roughly 10 years ago. I should give them a refresh to since it has been so long. I should have the kits in stock.

    I would talk to Moncef at Admin Tuning. It's an R-spec Skyline engine. Not new. Should be proven. Would be fun to take one out.
