Lifting an SR - Advice / Pic Request

Your truck looks great. Have you considered going with a bigger tire?

 

I know you said you already ordered a set of 5100's, but OME (Old Man Emu) has a set of really nice shocks, you can choose soft or firm, with new rear leafs again soft or firm and your choice of Coils (886 887 888)

I ordered a this set I ordered NitroCharger 90021 X4
887 Coils X2
and Dakar rear Leafs
ELO95R.

This will level your truck and give you a good ride as well. I was going to go with Bilsteins 5100.
But I have read a lot of conflicting information on how the front Bilstein shocks don't like OME springs and are made to be used with stock springs only.
I plan on adding about 200lbs to my front so I need the 887's for my Winch and Bumper Mount.

Any way I think either or is good. This setup seems to be the best for me going forward.

TBH I was out wheeling yesterday in the Ocala National Forest here in North Florida, in the sand and mud and the stock shocks on my SR 4x4 were not bad at all.

If that’s accurate, you ordered 4 front shocks.
The rears are 60091.

No. That setup with lift both front and rear 2”, so it will retain the stock rake.

Per ARB/OME, 887’s are for stock or light load.
888’s for medium load (bumper).
886’s for heavy load (bumper and winch).

 

LOL this is so confusing =).

Whatever is in that kit I ordered. 4 Shocks with the leafs and 887 Coils.
I ordered the softer ride OME shocks.

From what I was told on the phone the 887 Shock is good to retain the stock ride with a light load.
My winch and Bumper mount can be installed with stock springs with no sagging (At least on a new truck) the whole install weights less than 200 pounds.

I am going by what the "experts" told me.

Yeah....On the fence on 285's due to the fact that I don't want the trans to be gear hunting. That said, I just ordered a set of SCS RAY 10's in Matte Black. I'm thinking the 285's are a go. I know they'll likely rub a little and i'm fine to trim out some plastic but I don't want to have to do a cab mount chop. We shall see.

 

I'm in the same boat as you. I think I'm gonna go to 285's after these current (265/75/r16s) wear out and trim and CMC if necessary, but i don't off road so may be fine. (?)

 

@motofish84 is your SR the I-4 or v6?

I'll be installing these in October. I'm going with the 285/70/17 Falken Wildpeak AT3W's

Thinking I might throw on new UCA's as well. Anyone have a recommendation? I was thinking I'd go with the Dobinsons UCA's because I've been pretty happy with the leaf pack I have from them. With that said, I'm open to other suggestions.

 

Previous to my current truck was an SR AC 2.7....upgraded to heavier 4Runner wheels, took a lot of fun out of driving it. 3rd gear up the passes with no load.

 

Maybe I should consider 265s I ended up putting a roof top tent and some aluminum bed bars so more weight. I just want the truck to look properly proportioned. The 245s look so small after my 5100/aal kit.

 

I like the look of the second picture in your post but can't place those Toyota wheels. I know the top ones come off a 4 Runner I believe. Also, what is the lift and tire information with the second pictures. Looking though your posts and all your trucks you seem to have a knack for putting together excellent combinations(wheel tire lift) Very nice!

 

Older Sequoia or Tundra 6 lug wheels, they have a little more offset which pushes the wheels out a little further. (I don’t recall if I ran spidertrax 1.25” wheel spacers with that setup, maybe not ?)

Tire size was 285/75/16, lift was Toytec coils over lift with 1” rear block, set to max lift without binding inner CV boots.

Sequoia/Tundra part # 42611AF110, found both sets on Craigslist.


Those are one of my favorite wheels sets, this is a completely different setup. I miss all of my old vehicles : )
