I can empathize. I bought a 2018, with only 6K mi, in 2019 and it developed/had issues I thought I could live with, but decided I could not. Traded it for a 2020 with 9K on it 10 months ago, have zero issues now and absolutely love the truck. It is stock with only aesthetic mods and it IS the truck I wish the 2018 would have been. I think sometimes its just luck of the draw with any vehicle. However, I did waste 15 months of payments on the 2018, but only blame myself. Damn happy I bought the newer truck before all these price increases and chip shortages kicked in.

I highly recommend you get the KDmax tune. Without it I likely would have sold my nearly new 2021 OR.

I know its been mentioned throughout thread; how does the MPG change if you aren't driving aggressively?

Looks like it’s not a fit. Sorry to see you go but someone will benefit from your remorse. Pass it forward is it’s own reward sometimes.

I don't think that price is a qualifier for whether issues will occur, but it's extremely disheartening/disappointing to drop $50k on something that has issues.

After seeing the issues my buddys that bought new a Colorado and another with the new gladiator… I think the third gens are the best. Lol the Colorado Grenaded it’s trans last week at 2500 miles, the gladiator caught fire they figured out it’s a pinched wire… with 70 miles on it.

I’d say if you don’t want to get it tuned (I have a brand new 2021 OR with the KDMAX tune and love it), trade it

If it were me and I didn’t like my truck, I’d trade it for the new 2022 frontier. Those are lookin fast as hell, but they have their own downsides: terrible turning radius, and some people don’t like the hydraulic steering

people are just how starting to test drive them, so this is just the initial reports. It should cost roughly the same as your TRD for a pro4x

My 2018 V6 6MT DCSB with zero options besides what comes with the TRD Off Road package was $33k out the door brand new in December 2017. I think it's an amazing value for money at the ~$35k mark. You get a lot of functionality for the money and an interior that feels maybe a little cheaper than other similarly priced vehicles but still satisfactory for the money. Never had any issues with mine at nearly 100,000 miles and love it but like...

$46k just does not seem worth it to me, for any trim. I've ridden in two acquaintances pricier ones, a Limited and a loaded Sport and there is not much difference at all of substance besides leather seats, a few gadgets and a few niceties. It still feels like a $30k car interior but with some leather tossed on the seats and a strip on the dash, dual zone climate control and a bunch of stuff to beep at you. The plastics that feel cheap to me for what I paid are the same. It inherently feels like a $30,000 vehicle inside but for almost $50k. A buddy of mine recently bought an F150 XLT that's in that same price range and the interior feels several classes better.

Personally, I think F150s are far too big and wouldn't go bigger from a midsize no matter what. But if they're going to charge the same money for a smaller truck with an older powertrain they could at least make the interior materials on par with an XLT level F150. Like I'm not asking for a platinum here.

My other buddy has a 2018 Colorado stick shift, the shift lever falls off randomly, Chevy said it’s normal, been doing it since it was new

if i was buying an auto truck i would get the 2022 frontier. but since i want manual the tacoma it is. I have a 2016 frontier and its been a great truck. engine and transmission is 5x better than the 3rd gen tacomas. actually has the torque to hold a gear...

So the 3.5 doesn’t have enough torque to hold a gear?

not at 1500rpm like the 4.0 in frontier and even the old 2nd taco 4.0 for that matter. touch the throttle at all at the 3.5 has to downshift.

Now you know why someone traded in a truck with only 5000 miles on it. I think I'd dump it.
