I noticed at Johnson valley this year the yellows definitely didn’t glare as bad in the dust, probably gonna add 2 more lp4’s outside the lp6’s but I’ll probably do those in white…lol

I spend too much time reading on this thread despite not knowing squat haha. That said, I’ve decided to go for the 2.25LT! Gotta save up so for now I’m starting with the small stuff. Figured buying into it little by little will be easier  Although I feel like I have a million questions regarding shocks.. I suppose In due time :D

You should order coilovers as soon as you can because the wait time on those is atrocious. At the time I waited like 5 weeks for my LT stuff and 4 months for my coilovers. Those are only getting worse too.

Or check lt classifieds or sell off-road on Instagram daily…still hoping some 3.0 x 18 bypasses show up on there someday. Missed the last two that I saw…lol

Yeah true. JD has them spec’d for this kit which I would prefer to run vs a standard universal coilover though.

So I’ve heard! I still have to figure out what to make of the shocks though. I know the shops sells a FOX specific kit, I was going to eventually order with them and irritate whomever is on the phone with questions lol.

I think a lot or my questions are regarding shock tuning.. we do 3-4K mile trips and my current 5100s without a swaybar is sketchy af on the highway. I think #600 springs are fine but Im assuming I’ll need a firmer low compression dampening? secondary shock seems like overkill since I don’t jump it.. it’s all westcoast rock crawlin and 15hr freeway drives.

I was leery on the tuning as well. Harry had them tuned to their specs without any input on my truck. I figured worst case I could send them to accutune to get tuned for $200. The tuning was spot on and I have no qualms with it at all. I have a lot of highway driving, rock crawling and 500 lb coils and doesn’t feel sketchy at all. Take that fwiw.

Lol my wait time was like 9 months or something when I ordered in July. But honestly, I’m kinda glad. I get to enjoy the shit out of the truck for the rest of the year.

Woah.. 500 seems soft, but I know tuning makes a world of difference. That’s definitely promising. I’ll shoot them a call when I get a chance since the shocks will be phase two of the purchase. LT kit is last since it’s the most expensive lol.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s very soft and there is body roll around corners but the truck still feels super stable. I was hauling ass on a windy mountain road, tires chirping, and felt completely in control. I went the softer coil route for easier articulation while crawling and so far, it’s fantastic.

That’s what my 5100s look like, except all I see is death at the end or the corner

thanks for the video, the in-cab video helps with the perspective.

It’s interesting though, everybody seems to be running a super soft spring considering many run up to 700lb with a stock geometry setup. Your truck obviously has some weight to it. I believe 500 is the factory weight spring for these trucks.

Part of it is I’m able to squeeze a longer coil in there which allows me to run a softer coil and maintain lift. The other part is I believe most Tacoma’s are over sprung and don’t actually need 700 lb coils.

edit: when I was stock length I still only had 600 lb coils. I have about 200 lbs up front between bumper/winch/ifs skid

@81Trekker any chance you have any stock length tie rods that would fit your double shear outer heims that includes a pair of inner heims for a “3/4 x 3/4” heim joint @ a camburg clevice adapter?

I fully intend to play with spring rates when I get my stuff rolling. I went with the secondary free bleeds as well, so I should have plenty of room to make the valving work with a lighter spring. I know with 650’s currently it feels good, but stout on the small chatter and I feel as though that’s the springs because I have not been able to tune it out.
