What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Anyone have ideas for a rear camera when one has an aluminum rear bumper with two swing-outs which obscures the tailgate/handle?

 

Yessir! That's the one I am running. 22K so far without any issues. Though not totally silent, you can barely hear it on a hot day out on the trail, it is way quieter than my buddies walbro in the same situation. But to be fair, he's had no trouble with his.

How was the install of it?

 

I have the same one in my DD. Its been good, no complaints.

 

I too ran one and will continue to use them for pump swaps in the future, good quality and price.

I am not boosted, but I have considered it. So still an option for the future. Now that I've done it, the install wasn't too bad. You will have to splice in the OE connector, I soldered mine. And you'll have to shorten the OE bracket's pickup tube a little bit because the Aeromotive pump is a little longer than the OE pump. Everything else is a straight swap. Here a a couple of pics to better describe it.

 

What did you replace it with? I’m at 100k on my stock radiator and noticed it gets hotter than it used too. Was thinking it would be a good time to replace it

I can't imagine the 3rz fuel pickup being any different from the 5vz one.
I believe the bracket gasket on the top are the same between the two motors.

 

luckily I still have my old OEM laying in the garage so I just tossed that back in. Haven't replaced it since. Still works just fine. Offroad things get toasty but doubt there is much to be done there anyways.

 

I did the same thing with the

$103 AEM 50-1000 High Flow In-Tank Fuel Pump, Black, 4.055 x 1.535 x 1.535"es

AEM 50-1000 pump. Pump is quiet and I also agree that the install isn’t too bad.

just try to do it when you’re low on gas if you have to drop the tank.

 

I was given the opportunity to install my AEM fuel pump in my Tacoma recently...

Still had mine up until last week when I swapped it back. It was always in the back of my mind and since I was doing the TB I figured why not just get rid of it. Only put ~ 10k on it and was working fine but was always checking it when wheeling just incase

Actually... The owner of Yota1 helped Champion design the radiator.

His stipulation was they would NOT be manufactured in China. Champion dipped out him, and went straight to China for manufacturing the radiator.

Nick is a 100% legit guy, he told me that story face to face.
