I got one week off and would like to drive and explore Hundson Bay. Current plan is to drive up to Longue Pointe, QC and Fort George, QC camp at those locations and head back via QC.

    https://goo.gl/maps/KB8wpyPoviuzAgk38

Based on what I've seen this is any SUV friendly trip, so stock trucks are more than enough. I plan on brining MTB and trying to find boat/canoe for the trip.

If somebody is interested to tag along now is the time! :boink:

Plan somewhat looks like this below, @somebody you in?

If you got any suggestions and recommendations feel free to post here! :hattip:

    Fun Fact:
James Bay at Longue Pointe. This is actually part of the Arctic Ocean.
I will reach Arctic Ocean after all this year :bananadance:

    Hell Yeah!

I currently do not have the Friday 3rd booked off but will try and get on that this week. That would be my only current hiccup on this mint of a plan. Just got back from a camping weekend and in a dire need of an alignment. I will do some researching on the route this week once I get caught up.

I will now be able to say I've been (driven) to Nunavut as well!

OK, bad news and good news.

BAD: denied the extra (sept 3) day off because the rest of my team is away.

GOOD: I can more than likely make canoe happen.

@Norilsk for the bike portion, were you thinking more exploration or sending some trails further south?

That’s okay, we can start on the 4th. Not a problem here for me. What’s the rental cost there? Bike portion not too sure, still open to suggestions. I know Mount Tremblant had something, not sure now. Got to research more

    Great!

No rental cost, owned; if Im lucky I will be allowed to take the better half's lightweight one. More just cautionary of getting the broken 3/8's bolts out of my tracrac to carry it. They are red loctited in (from factory) and are at the limit of bare hand on an allen key to get out on a good day. The one that's broken off one thread down should be no problem to weld a nut to. The deeper one may be a challenge but there are no threads to save above it so maybe not bad either. I want to change all the bolts before the trip too so hopefully I dont get scuppered.

Tremblant would be sweet, makes the decision much easier on what bike to bring.

Let me know what dates you’ll be there for - I’ll try to make it out there for some MTBing action.
Friend of mine knows the area well and is an avid MTBer so if everything lines up, we could potentially have a TEC MTB outing in Tremblant LOL

He said he’ll be there golfing between the 11th to 14th - possibly be able to bike on the Sunday (12th). He’ll bring his bike in case this’ll become a thing.

Man, wish I could make this happen. This would be great experience for my plans to go work up north in a remote community in northern Ontario. Potentially driving by ice road this winter or the next. I'll write about it here for sure when it becomes more certain. Maybe I'll arrange an event/convoy for me to make it there safely lol.

That might be a bit late I have some commitments on the 12 that I need to be back for.

@Norilsk If we do Tremblant or a solid ride day still, a possible schedule could be

    11th - drive home from Tremblant (6-7hrs)
10th - ride and camp near Tremblant or mt St anne?
    9th - ?
    8th - ?
    7th - ?
    6th - ?
5th - set foot on Nunuvut
4th - drive as much as we can

That’s sounds good we can spend 9 and 10 there riding trails, depending on how quick we going to be moving. I’ll post suggested route tonight so we can discuss this further.

    I'll get to this later,
    Hey all,
Thanks to Gar-Fab I've been notified of this trip,
İt's right up my alley, and would absolutely love to join.

But: I have. Engagement party to attend on the 4th, can hit the road on the 5th for sure,

Also, even though I could make the 5th work, the 7th would be much better, with the first day of school and all,

Just throwing it out there, I know we all have different availabilities.

    As for bike and kayak,
I carry a single person kayak, so definetly up for being on the water, and once my bike is repaired I'm good with road and/or dirt road biking. I'm rocking a Specialized Diverge, but I would be open to the idea of renting a MTB but can only do minor trails due to past back injuries.

    I hope this can work,

İf not, and not meaning to highjack this, but if there are others who want to do a trip after the 7th, I'm already planning on going out on the road!

    Take care all,

    Cheers,

Fantastic. I would like to maximize my trip time as much as possible. Perhaps a staggered start and rendezvous can be planned. The details of where and or comms up there will have to be sorted out.

Would recommend the kayak as that would maintain our person-vessel capacity.

For the MTB I would recommend renting. No pressure to get roudy on the trails, just ride whats comfortable for you! Again, theres probably some other solutions here as well.

Alright here is the plan I got so far from all the thinking.

September 4: Toronto to Lac Rodayer 12.5 hours all day driving expected, may stop camping earlier depending on the situation.

September 5: Lac Rodayer to Longue Pointe 6.5 hours

September 6: Longue Pointe stick around, step on Nunavut:bananadance:

September 7: Head back via North Road North Road (jamesbayroad.com) camp somewhere along the route.

September 8: Reach Mont Tremblant Area, what's some good MTB places there??? @philth :boink:

September 9: MTB all day long in QC

    September 10:

September 11: Head back to Toronto
