Changed a tail light lamp and found this. Part of the tow package? I have no power at the trailer plug. Related?

White part looks like double sided tape that came loose. Look for some identifying wording. Maybe part of an aftermarket alarm. Or gps tracking.

That looks like part of an aftermarket trailer wiring kit.
Do you have a 4-pin? Or 7-pin connector for the trailer?
I’m going to guess it is a 4?

Are you the original owner? If the truck had a topper or camper on it at any point, its possible that is a quick and easy way to hook up the third brake light that some toppers have.

That definitely looks like an aftermarket lighting converter for trailer tow harness. Not sure why you’d have the if you already have to factory 7 round. Most foreign vehicles have a separate bulb for turn signal while most domestic vehicles share the brake light to blink for turn signal. This converter makes it so your 4 flat plug uses the brake light built as a turn signal. Hope this makes sense??? Basically 5 wires going in 4 coming out.

White, Yellow, Brown,Green are common colors for trailer wires.

RED / GREEN go to pass side. All other wires run to the 7 pin.
I've been checking videos, seems power is only needed for trailer brakes.
Trying to figure out what the module is for. Is it just sealed connections?

I probably didn’t explain it well. Your trucks turn signal bulb is it’s own bulb and not a combo of the brake light and then that same bulb flashing when a turn signal is on. Normal trailers and most domestic cars share that single bulb/ filament. That’s why on one side of the converter it has 5 wires and the other side it’s got 4. On the output of the converter 2 of the wires are hot when brakes are on and then either of them will blink with turn signal on.

You’re welcome. I’m more of a visual person so hope this helps. The wire(s)
Naming isn’t necessarily in the correct location but it just gives an idea of what’s going on.

Well, located the power wire that was disconnected and folded back in the engine bay. Just need to get a fuse holder and wire it up to the battery and ground.

I think you may have located a power wire for something else. The converter doesn’t require a direct 12v power source. If the 7 round connector you have is all part of the factory harness then the 12v hot in the connector is powered through a relay. On my Tacoma I believe that I either had to have the ignition on or truck running for this to get 12v but I might be mistaken. However it is possible the 7 round you have isn’t factory installed and the converter wires are going to that connector along with a direct 12v directly from the battery???

Yeah, the 7 pin isn't factory. The 12 volt goes directly to the 7 pin.Just need to source the fuse.
Since I installed an aftermarket underseat sub and an amp for the HU, I guess I'll go with an auxiliary fuse box. Any recommendations?

this is the fuse holder I used on my truck. It worked out good since I had an optima yellow top so I connected these to the unused side posts.
