3.4L supercharger

dont have a idle control valve. It’s all done with the throttle motor. The TB is clean and only a few years old.

 

I haven’t noticed that change. It seems to warm up the same as before the SC

 

Headed to Baja this week and won’t have reliable access to premium fuel, what octane booster do y’all recommend? Preferably something I can pickup off the shelf.

 

FWIW Kenne Bell recommends Lucas. If KB goes with Lucas it’s probably a good bet.

Torco is one the internet seems to recommend.

Water/Methanol is a good idea as well for an environment like that.

 

Worst case scenario, you could zip tie the bypass valve open so Sc doesn't build boost. @Bigal90

 

Rebuilding the supercharger that came off of a wrecked truck I bought. A '98 and the supercharger was put on at the dealer when it was new. I turned it over to drain the oil from the snout and found this sticker.
Does anyone know if it has any significance?

 

I’ll have to check my 98 with a 98 installed dealer blower. Lol probably nothing.

 

That’s the serial number, so it’s one of the 1st ones made,
Interesting think is they did a recall on the 1st run of these superchargers tho

 

If there was a recall, does anyone know what it was? Hopefully the the recall wasn't a replacement and the problem was taken care of.
The truck was a one owner vehicle and he was a service technician for Toyota.

 

You’re fine. Turn the pulley too see if it hangs up, feels like it’s rubbing anything, or has excessive play. If it’s turns smooth it’s probably good. Oil change would be a good idea.

I bought my supercharger new and was one of the 1st ones that bought one back then 1998
A year later they exchange it on a recall, dont remember what it was for tho

 

When the truck was wrecked it ended up upside down letting a lot of oil get into the supercharger. going to take the SC apart to clean out the engine oil. While I have it open, going to do a rebuild of the snout and change the needle bearings in the back. Doesn't feel like it's rubbing on anything. or excessive play.

 

Speaking of rebuilds, what’s the go
To nose rebuild kit. The 98 is at 95k. Since the engine will be easily accessible when it’s getting frame swapped, I think it’s due for a rebuild (although it sounds nice and quiet at idle)

I just ordered a few parts from Rolling Performance, they didn't have the rotor needle bearings in stock, I got those on ebay from The High Speed Lab. Since I have the 1st gen SC, I needed the bypass o-rings, I could only find those at Jon Bond Performance. I also got some of my parts from Khaos Motorsports.

 

What parts did you get from from Khaos Motorsports.?

Oil Fill Drain Plug, going to tap a new hole in the top of the snout and us it fir the plug
Delrin Supercharger Coupler
ACDelco Supercharger Oil w/ Syringe 8oz

 

Not sure if it will make any difference, but since I have the tools to do it, I am making a 1/4" spacer out of Delrin plastic to go between the throttle body and the supercharger intake to hopefully lower possible heat that gets transferred from the supercharge intake to the throttle body. Any thoughts from people if they think this will do anything? I'd attach a picture of the spacer, but I am waiting for the Delrin to arrive. I made a prototype out of MDF and it fits really well. I am still weeks away from the installation.

 

Anything helps. Maybe try one where the SC bolts to lower intake manifold. Also try ducting around the air filter so you are not sucking in hot air that just passed through the radiator.
