    Hey all

    Waiting on a tow.

26k miles, hot day, started truck up, idled funny, got about 200 feet, stalled. Gave me the High Auto Tranny Fluid warning.

Even in P it wouldn't Rev and just died a few times. Rough idle before dying.

    Tow package with tranny cooler.

Last week it ran rough, sputtered for a few seconds but went away.

EDIT: Dealer called me back and said "This one is on us, we left the clip on the fuel pump loose and it worked its way to not working." So they are going to fix it AND refund me the $231 for the towing cost. That's awesome. Middletown Toyota in CT. I asked him why a fuel pump would give me a hot tranny fluid and he wasn't exactly sure other than the electrical systems can sometimes do that.

$231 towing charge to the dealer as my ToyotaCare roadside expired a few months ago. Service writer asked me about my gas on the phone but that was all. They'll look at it tomorrow.

Keep in mind that auto forums are a lot like doctor's offices. It's where people go when they're sick and have issues. Same applies here. The Internet can make things seem much bigger than what they really are.

I had the recall done. Could be the fuel pump, but they put a new one in about 6 months ago. I don't think the fuel pump gives me high tranny fluid temp message though.

Had a similar issue to this, idle would be funny then I would drive a few miles then the engine would sputter and if it idled too long it would shut off with the High trans temp warning signal.

Never took it to the mechanic so I didn't get their input. I changed my trans fluid and I changed the CPS and it fixed the issue. Haven't dealt with it since.

We see diesel mix ups where the gas station actually fucks up, but it could also be a fuel pump. It's really hard to say.

My vote is the crankshaft position sensor.

CPSs were notorious to giving out on the Superduty Powerstrokes. I always had a spare with a 10mm wrench. There was no I would be pushing that supercrew on 39s/15.5s. It came in handy in the middle of the biggest intersection in San Antonio.

I think it's kinda one of those things where the truck doesn't really know what's going on. Like when you get a check charging system with the key on engine off.
