I know there was a big dispute between these two guys at one point, and I really don't care much about the personal aspect of all.of that. But, I've got a bent shackle mount and need to replace it. What are the real world pro's and cons between these 2 setups? I've got Dobinsons L59-111R leafs in the rear.

Should I buy their upgraded shackles as well?

I haven't ordered mine yet but I was in your boat, from what I've read the archive hangers have a lot more attention to detail like they match the curve of the frame at the mounting point but you definitely pay for it as they are a few hundred more than the BAMF. That being said I plan on picking up the archives when I'm ready

Both are good but i went with HH because of @ARCHIVE customer service and the HH just seem to be a bit better in terms of fit finish and clearance.

Thanks for your vote. We're over here getting paid what we're worth. Somethings to consider: Archive offers a complete welded and powdercoated High Clearance cross tube for not much $$, and our prices include free shipping, and we offer a TW member discount.

    AG has Great customer service.

I have BAMF hangers and probably gonna switch to AG in the future.

BAMF are a few degrees off I believe. They didn’t align with perch on the axle. I had to pull the leaf pack over hard to sit on the perch, adding stress to the bushings. Other than that they have been fine.

I have no experience with the BAMF hangers and I’m sure it’s a quality product, but I can tell you that the Archive HH w/ the crosstube is some of the best money I’ve spent on my truck.

BAMF likes to stamp their products with holes, likely to ensure they get filled with dirt and rust. The dimple die is their friend. Remember about 5 years ago they were asking how to rotate tires, I’d use a company with a little more experience.

    Both are solid products.

BAMF is made to be a direct factory replacement that is stout and offers aftermarket shackles if you want and Plates for a crossbar but does not currently offer one. Purely designed to replace the stock one so that it will never bend again.

The Archive has a few mounting options depending on which leaf pack you have. they offer a couple of shackle options and are made to maximize droop. They offer a DYI or ready-to-go crossbar.

I purchased a BAMF setup ready to install and later scored a deal on the Archive and installed those. With some folks I was chatting with that were doing similar builds the Archive Hangars were the go-to.

I have a ton of friends with the BAMF ones and they are solid and Beefy. In the entry Long Travel and other kits, you tend to see more Archive setups (Accuntune setups, Archive's setups, and a few others)

Depending on what you want both will be a major upgrade.

One thing to note is that neither of them plays nice with Dakar and more recently Dobson and even some Alcon springs. Modification is likely necessary (ie: you have to trim the leafs).

Any clown can replicate stock junk. It takes skill to improve upon it. BAMF fabricates the minimum to profit the maximum. Most of their products are made of hopes and Swiss cheese. Like I said 5 years ago he’s asking about UCAs and now he’s a “pro”, that’s not how it works unless there’s new people that don’t know the past.

Just installed the BAMF HD Hangars and shackles, as well as a crossmember. Already notice improved handling in the rear. Can't wait to bash my rear end up on a trail soon!

I want to clarify this issue is 100% fault of the spring brands making springs that are not compatible with the stock Tacoma shackle arrangement/design. Those springs don't "play nice" with the stock hangers/shackles.

Those springs are clearly designed for the Hilux shackles, plate shackles that go above the rear spring eye. In the Hilux application, there's no shackle to hit with 2nd/3rd leaves.

The only way to fix the problem created by the spring designers is to fix springs, hence trimming the leaves that extend inside the shackles.

Picture proof of Dakars destroying a stock shackle in a stock hanger.
Every revision of Dakars have progressively gotten worse in this issue. I ask people to stop buying this problem, and if you did, hold them accountable.

    Screenshot_20210609-212410_Instagram.jpg

All they have to do is follow the stock springs design:
This is also a good guide on how much to trim Dakars, Dobinsons and Ironman, but Alcan will need to be trimmed more because they're much longer

I will add that my Dakars were not too bad and likely trimmed too much so if you do be mindful of how much you trim.I have new leafs on order so it doesn't matter all that much but something to note.
