Dobinsons 2016-2023 Taco Suspension Options

The photo shows the correct orientation. The rear shocks are supposed to come with a new washer with the lip. That's called "the centering washer" to keep the shock stud dead centered in the upper shock mount. It was probably stuck to the shock mount just from rust, but it's not supposed to stay in there. The front struts use the same washer under the strut mount to keep the bushing and stud centered, so if you have some from the front leftover, you can use one of those.

 

Thanks for the confirmation. I have an unopened hardware packet from the other rear shock and it does not have a centering washer either. And yes definitely stuck in place due to good old rust! For the fronts I got those coilovers pre-assembled before shipping but no extra centering washer in the hardware packets that I got after assembly. I'll see if I can get a replacement.

 

Just a follow up here, if anyone needs a new centering washer for the rear shocks Toyota calls them "retainers" part number 90948-A2006 they are about $5.

 

Heads up, the L59-110-R and L59-111-R came back into stock today. The L59-112-R's are still in stock and more of those arrived too!!

 

Update : Close to 1000 miles on my 111-R's & C59-314 springs. It seems like they've settled in great at 2'' and zero noise from the rear leafs. Front springs also made for a better ride than stock.

 

Hey folks. Ive been seeing some discussion on dobinson leaf packs where the second leaf rubs inside the stock shackles during articulation causing wear/damage to the shackle. Does anyone have any insight on this? I was wondering if trimming the very end of the second leaf might be a solution or if there is a shackle out there with greater clearance. It sounds like this in not a Dobinson isolated issue its just that I've got a set off 111's and Hammer hangers that I'm getting ready to install. Any feedback and advice is much appreciated.

 

It's been more than a year since the design change on the leaf springs, adding more clearance on the leaf. If you've recently bought the springs, there won't be an issue.

 

Thank you. I picked them up from a local 4X4 shop so I'd have to reach out to them to find out when these are from. Do know if there's any obvious measurements i can take to determine if I have the updated design or not?

Hammer hangers eliminate this problem along with adding a bit more strength and supposedly a little more articulation.

 

@TyLxer_VLI. @Crikeymike I have the 110 leafs bought April 2020 and they don't seem to have a problem.

 

I checked last night and that's actually what mine look like too. There's some pictures of 111's over on the Archive thread that show that second leaf extending back closer to the rear eye. I'm not sure which is the newer revision but it seems like something to pay attention to regardless

 

I have yet to receive a complaint on the leaf springs since the design change over a year ago. Here they are, they clear the shackle. I think there's maybe an issue with an aftermarket product and their item doesn't fit all the other leaf springs being sold by the thousands around the country.

Hey @Crikeymike . Looking to get package for my RWD. Here's what I'm looking at:

MRA59-A220 in the front paired with a 302 coil
MRA59-A940
110 Leafs.

I'm not looking to go over 2.5". I have sliders and a roof rack on the car but no other weight. I may run an RTT down the line. Any thoughts?

 

Hey bud

If yours is only a prerunner, you'll need to go lower on the front coils because the 4x4 coils lift a full inch more on a 2WD. C59-300 with the MRA set right will be more appropriate.

Those rear springs will work well for what you're doing with it.

Hey guys! Just trying to see if someone could chime in and answer some questions I have.

I recently installed my lift. It is the 314 coils with the 220 struts and 2” quick ride rear. I got 3” of lift in the front and 2” in the back. I have the dobinsons upper control arms as well.
I’m going to get my new wheels and tires mounted on soon and get an alignment. I was just wondering what numbers for the alignment I should be aiming for and how much caster I can get with the dobinsons uca.
If this helps the wheels are scs ray 10 17x9 -38 mm offset and 295/70r17 tires.

Finally got to take the truck out and get dirty in the dunes after installing the MRA kit. Got a bit of rubbing on the UCAs and inside if the fenders where the flaps are. Im going to remove the flaps and take care if that issue. Any thoughts on what to do about the UCA rubbing?

 

Just curious, what was your tire pressure at?
