That's false. EV's are IP rated for the batteries and motors to be submerged for travel through water. This is a common myth. Like the RIvian truck can go up to 40" of water.

You get water into those Li-ion batteries, you need to be prepared for some exothermic activity.

They are sealed but not recommended to be submerged for a long period of time. But daily water hazards are a non issue.

I'm talking about EV conversions. And it is an issue if you submerge an EV. Whether you want to believe it or not. So be cautious. They aren't perfect.

Ah okay. EV conversion motors and batteries should be sealed but not like a factory made EV. EV's aren't perfect for sure. They are still in their infancy.

I just priced out a Rivian over on their site. $74,275 with deliveries beginning January 2022. That's 1/3 my mortgage.

The ford is much cheaper. That's the win for a multibillion dollar production compared to a startup.

The appeal is quiet, instant power, eco-friendly and lower maintenance than a gas powered car.
Water is no more of an issue than with a gas engine.

The batteries go where ever you can fit them. Fire spark protection should come from robust insulation. Weight may or may not be a factor depending on how many batteries and what type they are. Also, space will limit them, too.

It is inevitable that sooner than later all new autos will be EV in USA. As a family, we have accepted and anticipate our next vehicle being an EV. It's that monthly payment I'm not looking forward to. Both our vehicles are paid off and it's been really nice to not have so much $ going out of the bank account each month.

Actually EV's with a lower range are widely available under $30k the myth they are all $50k plus is another myth. Used can be had around $25k

Maybe, but how many off road EV's is there to pull actual data from? Plenty of videos of almost fully submerged gas engines driving through floods and river crossings to argue with.

The only off road EV truck at the moment is the Ford F150 EV. Others are yet to be delivered and tested.

That's why I don't care about EV stats. Real world experiences have yet to prove them true. Marketing stunts can be made for investors but I live in the real world.

But if EV stats are based on real world experiences are they not legitimate?
