    Hi guys,

Just got off the phone with Toyota in Colorado and they confirmed that the frame has the potential to be replaced ONLY in “cold weather states” (due to rust corrosion). My truck is registered in MA and that is where I have been living primarily. First problem, Colorado is a cold weather state (in my humble opinion, but not according to Toyota). Second problem, it is registered and has been driven in a cold weather state (MA). How big of a load of BS is this and wondering if anyone has any advice or previous experience with this problem? Toyota is really starting to grind my gears....

Did you explain this to Corporate? Non rust states don’t have the equipment to do the job. Your opinion doesn’t matter. Toyota has a printed out letter that describes who is entitled and who is not and what is covered and what is not covered. A simple google search brings this up.

You're talking to the wrong people.

There is no 'Toyota Colorado'. They are just dealerships.

If the truck is still registered in MA, and records demonstrate you lived there a few winters, AND you meet all the other criteria, you shouldn't have a problem.

Yep. Call and ask them. They will say we don’t do that in a non rust state.

I’m in Texas and my truck should be ready to pick up with its new frame in a few days. It lived the first 8yrs in MA so obviously Texas doesn’t have the issue with salt and snow but I still qualified for the frame replacement. They had to wait for the go ahead for corporate but it was approved. Call corporate and begin a case. They can help get the ball rolling for you if the dealership isn’t any help. But remember the 12yr statute applies

What year is it? The 05-10 model recall is pretty much expired.

that’s not true. I’m in Texas and they are getting it done. Just a matter of ordering the parts and replacing.

@rdiddy_25 thats awesome, hopefully my truck meets the criteria. I had a feeling it wouldn’t be too hard to have it done.

@rdiddy_25 I saw you said your truck is still in the shop, but how long was their estimate to replace the frame and did they lend you another Tacoma as a replacement vehicle? Thanks

I was denied mine. I live in Texas. It looks good still, but yeah... I feel it should be replaced as a precautionary thing to prevent future problems...

Once they got the approval from Corporate, took about 2 weeks, they began ordering all the parts. And yes, they gave me a Tacoma as a loaner while they replace my frame.

Only reason mine was replaced was because it spent the first 8yrs in MA and they were able to verify it through running the vin.

I'm going to try very hard not to sound harsh here, but your 14 year old frame looks good, but you still think Toyota should spend $15,000 to replace it as a precaution? Words fail me.

You do realize that the new frame doesn't have any advantage over the old frame? Its not made of different material or has a different coating (as far as I am aware) So in other words those who had a frame replaced will be in same shape again unless they proactively maintain the new frame.
