Maybe put it up in park everytime you stop on a hill? That way the parking pawl will hold you? :notsure:

Or maybe just enjoy the Tacoma for what it is and don't nitpick it all to pieces? :notsure:

    You're choice, I guess.

    A few.
Its a normal thing on tacomas. There is actually a safety feature that activates the ABS system when that happens called Hill Start Assist that stops it from rolling backwards

I think it depends on the truck, or model year actually. My 2007 Tacoma holds pretty well except on really steep hills. My 2014 F150 rolls back much easier even on moderate hills. Can't say about newer Tacoma's. But either way it is normal.

Weirdly, that is only on OR and Pro ATs.

I believe the Sport (and 2016 - 2017 SR) MT hill assist is called only HA?

I should probably check that before blabbing, but it does work very differently. An electronic line lock versus some weird ABS pulsing on the ORs / Pros.

Exactly. I used it since I first started driving. Some of our cars did it better than others.

The precious advice from peeps in the right seat was that it was bad to sit still on a hill without having a foot on the brake as it was doing damage to the AT.

Even stranger is that in some EVs, there is a creep option that simulates TC parasitic drag. The world we live in . . .

Yeah it only happens on some really steep hills with mine. I just give the gas pedal a nudge, and it creeps back up.

Its OK it was new to me too after 60 years of driving with automatic transmissions. let it roll enough the hill assist will come on and stop the roll with a harsh ratcheting action which is even more disturbing. probably a mileage thing or reduced transmission wear. at least we don't have the dumb start stop engine thing when stopped at a light.

One time mine rolled backwards in drive and my truck didn't like it at all . Stalled out and a couple warnings came up but started right back up . My 17 has hill assist but it's on a timer , don't really need it but it's ok . What does your truck do when it rolls backwards ?

I reallllly want that autobrake that my sister's new Sienna has. Apply the brake, let off and it holds them for you until you step on the gas when the light turns green.
