Could go either way. Looks like frame damage from here. With the extra high value of Tacomas right now, most insurance companies would push to repair that. All comes down to cost of repairs vs value of vehicle. Take it to the nicest shop you can find for repairs.

Ouch Jeremy that sucks and sorry to see a super clean new truck like that. Hopefully everyone is fine.

Fortunately for you Tennessee is an "at fault" state meaning the driver that hit you is responsible (unlike places like DC where it's "no fault" which is ridiculous.)

You'll probably get some good advice coming along within the next day or so. You may want to search for other threads with similar titles as there's previously been some good advice on how to handle insurance and quotes. Good luck.

Welcome to the forum, sorry for your bad luck. Hope you are doing okay. Looks like it will probably be a total loss but you’ll have to wait for the insurance adjuster. As the valve of used Tacomas is so high right now don’t let them low ball you if it is totaled. Also, It would be a good idea to have a doctor check you out just in case.

Ask for depreciation if they repair it.

Probably has frame damage judging by you having difficulty opening the doors now. In that case even if they don't total it out I wouldn't want the truck anymore. I'd trade it in right after the other driver's insurance paid out my depreciation claim.

Based on the current market, it's very likely it will be fixed even with frame damage. If it was me I would hope it's totaled after a hit like that. Did you have any airbag deployment?

    This.

If they repair it, drive it directly from the body shop to the dealership and trade it in. It is NEVER going to be right.

From the look and description the frame is probably toast, so I'd push for having it totaled. Meet the adjuster at the vehicle, be real nice to them. Their job is pretty subjective and they will not see all the damage that needs to be fixed. Once you take it to the shop the sky is the limit on how much it actually costs to fix. The total/not total number is the original estimate, not how much it ends up being, that is unlimited.

Example: My little roller skate racecar Mini. I hit a curb. Looked like a rim, control arm and a strut maybe. Insurance adjuster came out and estimated total damage to be about $2500. Ok. Went to the shop. $8500 later I finally got it back and it was never the same. Always a vibration until the day I got rid of it. So, they spent $8500 (minus my $500 deductible) to fix an $11000 car.

Well, maybe ‘he’ was, but the truck wasn’t…

your frame is bent. so you better pray it's totaled.

i just went through a similar situation and they had an eta of 4 months or more for the frame. finally got them to total it after going back and forth for a month. was extremely stressful. need my truck for work and the at-fault party's insurance was fighting me the whole time and wanted me to pay up front for a rental car (which they couldn't guarantee they would reimburse me...). never use Allstate insurance. was on hold for at least an hour each time I had to call them.

    USAA was great though.

I got the last truck on the dealer lot for my replacement

Being a 2021 model, nope wont be totaled but once again here comes the "diminished value" forum debate.

Was tboned in my 3 month old (at the time) X-Runner by someone running a red light. Spun me around 180. She hit the access cab door and front of the bed.

$11,000 later, with a new door and bed - she was good to go. I had to fight my insurance company (Allstate) every step of the way to use factory parts.

Bring totaled is not always the best scenario either depending on potential insurance company decided market value and possible amount left on a loan.

what debate? Most of the time, at least at a dealership - you will see slightly less value when trading in

with today’s ways of looking things up - no way these things go unnoticed.

whether or not you have a valid claim to pursue the other party who caused the accident, however, depends on your state/jurisdiction.
