Yes, they're skunks aka polecats. Their colors are uncommon in the wild, these were captive-bred.

All mine are disarmed.

 

None of my cats have any means. They’ve been revoked of their weapons since about 6 weeks old. They don’t seem to mind or even notice, they’d never claw me they know better than to bite the hand that feeds them

 

We took the long haired boyo to a groomer for the first time because he couldn’t keep his rear end clean. We wanted them to just trim the hair back there a bit but they did a bath and brushing and trimmed his claws. Well they went a bit too far and cut them way down. He still bleeds from his fingers and it’s been almost two weeks.

Yesterday he got caught by the fur in the recliner mechanism in our couch. He lost a bit of hair and has a bald spot but damn was that scary.

 

Gracie went back to the vet again yesterday for a second follow-up regarding her gland infection, and the news was good. The issue seems to have cleared up, and we are able to stop the twice-daily dosing of antibiotics. It was very stressful for her, so we are happy to be stopping...plus it means she's feeling better back there. Her only remaining issue (that we know of) is the viral eye infection, and that's resolving well too. We've decided to give her the eye drops for a full month, but she doesn't seem to get to upset about it. The wife just holds her in a sitting position and I pop the drops in super fast. We're back on-plan to get her out of second floor lockdown and get her integrated with the boys.

We are beginning to think that her eyesight is a bit limited. We know she has some early cataracts, and the eye with the infection shows evidence of an old injury (a slight squint and some corneal scarring). We are noticing that she doesn't seem to catch when we put food down on that side, and she doesn't look out of windows or down to the first floor like most cats. She can see, but perhaps not that well. If we're correct there is nothing that can be done about it other than to protect her and keep her inside. That was already the plan.

Anyway, every time she goes to the vet my wife gets her a toy or some catnip for the ride home. She's building up quite a collection.

 

She sure looks great and definitely has a very sweet look about her. Hopefully she and the boys adapt to each other quickly and she can start showing you guys the love back that you deserve.

 

I feel like the look on her face shows love and appreciation.

 

Few of ours this evening, I try telling the wife and daughter to cut back on treats, lol cost like $8.00 a day the way they hand them out. Actually I think if we went out there with regular kibble they wouldn't know the difference! We give them plenty of food too.

I was holding out you can tell by the look huh?

 

Tried that with the neighbors cat. Scarfed down the treats faster than I could give them to him. I thought it was getting out of control so I tried the switch to regular dry food. He just sniffed it and walked away. Spoiled little shit.

I was the only one home today after work and the old girl Tigger try to tell me she needed food, but I could tell that she got fed at her regular 3 PM feed time. She'll sit there and meow back like she's trying to talk, when I ask what? Food?
