    Good morning everyone!!

I hope you just sat back and had a beer, Kurt...or 5.

Picked up some linoleum to put down on the wood floor in part of our stable where we want to store the beekeeping supplies. Turned out we got the end of the roll and it had some imperfections - they discounted it to half price....the 12X14 sheet cost less than the small bucket of glue. Score!!

    Grass cutting today!!

    Be safe out there!!

Just watch out. I have a couple myself and the magnets are not the best. For a car they seem ok but bouncing along might be another thing FYI….

Sorry for your losses Dave.. It is never easy when you lose a mom or dad.

LOL You probably have more tools than anyone here but could use some more. WTG Mike. One can never have too many tools. Best of luck this coming weekend.

We got in from our trip around midnight last night. Up this morning to say hi to the son and to start laundry. Guitar lesson today and I have not played in 2 weeks so I know I will suck big time. Also plan to go shopping.

If anyone is going to Canada hit me up and I can fill you in on what to expect and what you need to do. It is not all that hard but Canada is really serious about C19. So glad my wife and I went on the trip.

    Morning all:

 I could have thrown the magnets away Mike, the cart is made from an aluminum extension ladder! I cut a strip of light aluminum to use as a washer, drilled a hole through the aluminum washer, the key holder, and the ladder frame and bolted it on, it ain't going nowhere!!

Glad to see you back and safe Tom, those vacations sure seem to go fast!

    Good Morning everyone.

Managed one of my "blame it on Parkinson's" moments. Face planted into a neighbors planter box. Did my usual two-mile walk, heading back to the house, and felt like my legs were runaway horses. Attempted to stop, but face forward into a brick planter box.

I'm off to the dentist this morning (the tooth doesn't feel right).

My wife is doing better, which is good as I have slacked off too much on my walking & cycling. Need to work on this thing called "staying upright when walking".

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals and Gals!
Welcome back Tom! Glad you all had a nice trip! :canada:

I got some spiffy aluminum magnets Carl - in 7/16" or 10mm!!!:laugh::laugh:

Nice to hear some good news from you Tom - even if you can't walk right. I fell down too yesterday, dumping a recycle bin on top of myself when I got stung. No one heard me at all.

Yes, I did have a couple beers  Mark! And after I posted the details in the San Antonio thread, Alan came all the way over there to help me drink some! Here's the story....translated....

:annoyed:Spent the morning re-reading all the instructions and checking my measurement math. Got on the phone with the actual manufacturer experts, then their hot line. Should it not be hard and dry? YES. Is the correct mix proportion 3/1 epoxy/resin? YES. I mixed the raw epoxy with drill paddle mixer in the can for 5 minutes - until there was consistent color - no streaks. Then, mixed the mixture in a clean pail for 5 minutes - until the same consistency. Correct? YES.

:redxfall:Explain to the experts that after 68/72 hours, it's tacky. Not come of on my fingers, but tacky. SHOULD BE HARD. Yes, but it's not. EITHER WASN'T MIXED CORRECTLY OR LONG ENOUGH. Was what I described above correct? YES. BUT THE RESULT IS NOT.
Can I cover it with a new batch of epoxy primer - I have more? NO.
Can I put a second coat on - I have more? NO.
    What can I do?

 USE SOLVENT, DRAIN THE POOL, AND WIPE IT OFF WITH RAGS.

:frusty: Well, that ain't gonna happen at this time. I gave myself two options - 1. I'm gonna coat that tacky shit with clear, gloss laquer in a can. Dries fast and hard. If it is smooth and touchable when done, and doesn't cause the epoxy to run. I will go with it. I tried a sample area, it worked, got more, and put on 2 coats. And/Or 2. I will mix up a second coat. I'm holding that in reserve. If, the masking pulls off my new coat, I can touch up that. (If I had to strip it, I would just strip the tile all off, and have the darn thing resurfaced.)

:rant::rant::rant: so, TODAY, I will be masking and putting a prime on the coping. Thursday, when I get home from Austin, I will paint the coping. Friday that mask will come off, and we will see. The :rant: is the sound I've made all day. Got stung by a wasp too.

    will it work?

o_O So, where do I sit today? The lacquer is dry and smooth - no imperfections other than what was there. Piecing together "internet facts", lacquer could have formed a nice bond with the tacky resin - it was all done with it's chemical reaction according to the experts. So, good enough to proceed with the plan.

Have a nice hump day everyone!

Kurt, and others... a little explanation on the instructions you quoted on the epoxy : the mixing in one bucket :stirthepot: and transferring to a second bucket :stirthepot: to complete the mixing is to ensure that no uncatalized resin remains on the sides and corners of the first bucket to be used on the project. The precise ratio of resin/catalist is secondary to the need for virtually all resin to have at least some catalist. An imprecise ratio will mean a slower or faster cure, with attendant side issues for each, but resin having zero catalist means total failure.

...And you didn't comment on my surprise at the diminutive size of the Alamo! After all these years, I still marvel at how John Wayne made the Alamo seem so huge! o_O

To be clear, I mixed the original can for 5, then poured into paint pail. Then poured in clean bucket measured amount, added catalyst and mixed again. Now I can't mix when I pour into the rolling tray, bit I stir again to refill. This stuff is sold for DIY morons like me. Its not that hard.

Actually, the movie was filmed at a "movie fabricated site" around Brackettville, TX .... halfway between Del Rio and Uvalde in South Texas. At that time there was lots of empty land in the area. As far as I know, its still a tourist attraction (can't confirm).

    The plan proceeds....

Primer on the coping. White tomorrow afternoon. Quick tape test was 70% success. Also primered over a couple spots on the coping that I put the tacky stuff on. I am expecting that on Friday, I will put a quick coat of blue on the top of the tile. I mixed the crap out of the primer today.....

    AND.....
Alamo Village operated as an occasional movie set and tourist attraction (gunfights were performed in the street). Since closing in 2010, however, the former Hollywood destination has mostly been used for hunting and cattle grazing. Well it's closed until further notice.

Always put a small sample in a cup and leave it - if that cures, what you spread will, too. If that doesn't cure, then ratio wasn't correct, or... some other issue.

Thanks Sue.... kind of hard to do that at this scale. Working time with my mix is 2 hours or less in this heat, and cure is 24 hrs+. Now it might shell up for me outside, but then my mix can't easily be applied. Primer was hardening as I worked today.....

Oh yea - what you see on the blue edge is what I did with the same stuff last August - no problems. It will be white tomorrow.

    Good morning, everyone!!

Great to see the good news on your wife, Tom!! Not so good on the fall. I hope the tooth is OK!!

Sending good vibes that all works out on the pool, Kurt. That's way too much work to have to re-do the whole thing.

Started the day off yesterday by putting on my bee suit and then killing off the hornets nest in the horse shed. Turned out not to be where I originally thought it was - glad I nailed it before I started cutting grass since I would have driven the mower right over it. I'll check it today and run another fire mission if needed.

Finally got our grass cut - about 8 days between cuts and it showed. The ground is still wet from all our rain though. More thunderstorms/showers on the way for the next few days.

An old Army buddy - and ROTC classmate - is staying overnight with us tonight. He retired as a Major General to my lowly Colonel rank - lives in the Austin area now but is originally from here in northeast PA. We're going to do some aroma therapy with one of my M1 Garands and my Thompson M1A1 and then retire to an evening of adult beverages and "there I was" stories.

    Be safe out there!

    Morning
Fishing this morning for a few hours before it gets way to hot.
Chainsaw carb should show up today. So I’ll get that together and see if that
    Takes care of my issues.
Then hide in the house this afternoon.
Tomorrow’s deal is starting a picture window repair. Maybe

    Morning all:
I'm back at a major trimming, with the weather we have been having everything seems to be in super grow mode! Too wet to mow in the lower front yard but can mow up back, yesterday started trimming and was soaked with sweat, probably the same today!

Please excuse me while I vent.

For at least the past few months Toyota of Scranton has been calling me. Just a few times I answered and asked whoever was calling to please stop.
The times I didn't answer they left messages.
    Now today they started texting!!!
I'm trying to hold my tongue but not sure how long that's going to last. :annoyed:

Why? Are they trying to sell you something?

    Can you block them?

And still... unsolicited phone calls should be actionable in small claims court.
