The only solution I'm aware of for this is the dealer. You'll have to provide some sort of proof of ownership. Title / registration + ID "should" work.

This thread is turrible in so many ways.

I thought this was a Friday thread in the making, but nope it's real.

At the end of the day humans are messy. My old Tacoma is still out there with fecal spores deeply imbedded in the passenger seat and i'm sure the owner has no clue.

I hope the OP got a deal

Given that it was copart I’m sure it sold for less but it’s still a lot of work at least to do it right. I detail cars and I’ve gotten these calls before but I pass. I probably would have gutted the interior, props to you for taking it on. I will say I think I’d rather deal with this over rotten milk.

original key ring from dealer has a small metal # tag on it, tells them what key to make. I took a picture of it just incase it gets lost.

Yeah, that's the key bitting. I will tell a locksmith how to cut a key to open the doors / tailgate, but that's different than the "smart lock" code.

This will get you into the truck. It won't start a truck (or car) with a push button start.

Real interesting. This umderscores my thimking today about a Post from an owner who bought a new ....used Tacoma with only 5,000 miles on it and was bashing the vebicle as a piece of crap. My respomse to his post was, yeah only 5000 miles but you do not know how those 5000 miles were spent. People will say they wont buy a new car becuase they dont want to take the depreciation hit.
I rented a new vehiicle and drove it straight through a storm, waters so deep it felt like it was a boat. It brought me home, i dropped off my kids to school the next morning and then it stalled out in rush hour traffic.

That was a great vehicle, took me through some high waters where trucks with very high lifts were going in reverse becuase the flood waters were too deep.

That vehicle was a Ford Fusion, the next owners experience with that car will be calling it a piece of crap, that vehicle was well put together when i had it.

40 volume clear developer/peroxide from Sally Beauty in a trigger sprayer can be helpful finding bits of small organic matter. It will foam / turn rusty brown.

I guess "suicide vehicles" have to end up with someone! I had a brother in law take his own life with a 12 gauge shotgun to the bottom of his chin. After the investigation was over, my sister in law got the gun back and understandably wanted it out of her house. So she gave me the shotgun and his deer hunting rifle to have. I just could not hang on to that shotgun knowing that Scotty had used it to blow his brains out, so I gave it to a friend of mine. I made sure he knew the history and he said he had no issues taking it since he had no personal connection the original owner.
