This is absolutely amazing and genius! This is the exact thing I've been trying to look for as far as keeping the Diamondback functionally with a tent on it. Take my moneys now!! Keep us updated if you ever end up selling these in some way or capacity!

That’s impressive man. I’m pretty close to you, if you get any spare tire carrier ideas, I’d be super interested.

I have a used diamondback SE cover for sale for Tacoma short bed. it was originally silver but I used the Bed liner spray on it. I have made some mods (used struts channel as rail) to it to attach Thule bars and a TRD sports bar.

I have also a DIY pull out kitchen full length (5 feet) it has heavy duty sliders to support 250+ lbs plus 2 tables and a cutting board and a additional slide drawer to carry stove.

The whole setup is for sale as I am going to get a canopy/shell. I will bundle Diamondback cover plus pull out kitchen for $1500. just the diamond back cover will be for $900. I will leave the strut channels rails on.

The pullout kitchen is mounted on the truck bed by using the existing bed bolts. No drilling required. I can share the mounting details.

I will also respray the bed liner on cover and repaint the pull out kitchen to give them a freshlook.

I am based in SoCal Riverside county.

The TRD sports bar is also for sale. Its a an overseas item. you can check it out here. https://www.ebay.com/itm/192849424238?epid=21030153759

it fits Tacoma easily with out a bed cover but can also be fitted with a bed cover as I did. Please contact me about it only if you are serious and we can negotiate a price.

I combined two mod's posted in this thread and made a L-Track anchor rail for extra tie down points and moveable fork mounts for a couple mountain bikes.

Bent two pieces of 3/16 plate, bolted them to cleat locations, then added a piece of L-track across the cover.

Hey everyone. Quick question about the SE for short bed. I've got a cooler that sits about half an inch below the top of tailgate. Would there be any issues with clearance when the lid is closed?

I also have a Jerry can that sticks about an inch above the bed rails at the front of the bed. It seems like if this were to fit between the end of the cover and the cross bar it may fit. Is there anyone that could confirm?

As long as the cooler is not blocking the rails, then it will allow the cover to latch. Just keep in mind that the way it latches is by using bars that hang below the cover, so having it that close may not fit.

Best bet is to get dimensions for the cooler to see if anyone can confirm fitment. As for the Jerry can, you would need measurements as well. I can't help you with the Jerry can fitment since I have an HD

i have to center my cooler in the middle of my bed so that it clears the locking rods (their highest point is the middle). I can’t push it straight in on the sides but I can slide it to the side behind the rods(I think they are only like 8 inches from the tailgate).

My cooler is centered currently. I'm thinking worst case I would have to rotate it 90.

That jerry can looks like it would impede the front cover from closing since I believe the SE front cover locking rods would need to sit & operate where the upper portion of the jerry can is in your picture. I use an HD, but I believe the SE’s have the same positioning for the locking rods.

Thanks! How far from the front bed rail do the bars sit?

I think they’re set right around the jerry can handle closest to the cab / the front of the bed.

Have you tried positioning the jerry can around the left or right rear area of the bed, just behind the wheel well? This works out okay for the two Rotopax I use, stacked side-by-side.

I posted in the SoCal thread to see if there is anyone local that I can take measurements off of. I'm also thinking that if I put the cover on the bed, the holder would no longer be needed and I could just use straps. The holder is the high point in the top and I'd also remove the added height from the base.

None yet other than Bilstein Shocks that were factory installed.
Do you have any pics of the final product assembled? I’m eyeballing that same rack and tent!
