I really like mine except it is gonna chew up the support cable when you close the tailgate. I guide my cable to the side of the piston when I close the tailgate to reduce the damage.

If running stock tailgate cover trimming a little gives better clearance for cable
Mine current being used as a "shelf " lol

I was thinking I might just pull the left side cable. I don't tend to do jumping jacks on it lol. Honestly I could always keep it in the cab if I need it.

I have a custom tailgate insert. I wonder if that'll help with clearance alone.

    Solid picnic table btw :D

Couple days shy of a 7 day trip to Zion and neighboring parks, since we left San Diego I decided to get as accurate of an mpg as possible. Filled up to the neck before we left, filled in Vegas. 19.32 mpg (multiplied .055% to odometer for tires) and if I didn’t it was 18.72 or something. Driving all around up here in Utah I’ve filled another two times, getting an average median of 18.98 mpg, adding adjusted mpg and stock odometer and dividing by the number of fillups.

long story short, how the hell am I getting 19?? What’s in Utah and Nevada gas? Lolll

Lower air density = less wind resistance. It’s not the gas. The computer measures actual air intake and feeds the correct amount of fuel, as long as you’re below WOT it can compensate for the lower pressure. Lower wind resistance is a freebee.

^ I’m amazed because a lot of the driving is incline grade 1/2 the time. Decent 3rd gear climbs through the switchbacks then on to cruising relatively flat. Beats 16.5mpg in San Diego!

This, sitting at a traffic light is literally zero mileage and brings the average down. Every time you accelerate or hit the brakes is another hit. I would get better mileage on ski trips up 8000’ to Tahoe and back than driving around town. Power sucked but it sipped has.

I get better mileage in Santa Rosa than I do in Reno. Truck feels a lot quicker down there too.

Blows my mind how altitude can effect it, these switchbacks up a 13% or more grade from 10mph to 30 then back down all day makes me just question it lol! Well.. not all day. But for sure at least 2k altitude gain then to flat.

    Damn California guy
