    Thanks again for sharing.

I got to thinking, I remembered your encounter with the lights... Did you happen to see my post many pages ago with a picture that I had taken years ago while home on leave in the woods?
I couldn't see it or didn't see anything when I took it. But it was in the picture later... I took the picture to camera shops and showed several photographers and no one knew what it was.

Thanks for the share.... Sound like your sixth sense was telling you something.

    Thanks for the share.

There's so much we don't know, so much we've been kept in the dark on....

I wish I could've gotten a video or pictures or something of some strange lights I saw on top of a mountain from several miles away a couple of months ago....
I watched them for a while thru my binocs but, it was just too far to really see well. I went thru a long list in my mind of these things it could've been but, none seemed to fit or make good sense.
    That was mid afternoon.

I know a lot of people who spend much time afield in remote unpopulated areas experience things like some have related here. Numerous people have experienced the feeling of sense of being watched or feeling something odd, strange, threatening, dangerous in the wilderness. I’ve had these experiences several times but none as intense as the experience I related while camping at Sterling lake. I am reading and hearing of more and more of these experiences. I think a lot of people don’t tell anyone about such experiences cause the think people won’t believe them and they will be ridiculed and teased. I never told my wife about the story I related about Bear and I. She would believe me but I didn’t want her to worry about me every time I headed off on one of my outdoor adventures.

Here’s one thing I’ve learned. When you are in the wilderness, especially by yourself and have feelings of being watched, of impending danger, doom, or you feel threatened even though you can’t exactly identify the cause, heed the warning, heed your instincts. Leave the area, get the hell out of there. I always carry a gun and consider myself expert with it. It gives me confidence. But I think (can’t prove it) that there may be things out there a gun may have no effect on. (But there are plenty of things out there a gun comes handy for, so I’ll keep carrying). Even though I carry a weapon I always pay attention to my instincts, and if I feel an unidentifiable threat or danger, I retreat. Listen to your inner voice, your instincts.

    Very true.

I'm not a believer in the bigfoot of legend, but I don't disbelieve there's stuff out there we don't know of and or understand.

On the flip side of your instincts telling you something is wrong, I've been places that just felt good. A feeling similar to the danger in the back of your head, but tranquility or positive vibes. When I've experienced this the areas aren't necessarily a particularly special or beautiful place, some have been, some are just typical woods.

Edit. My first post in this thread was off my first unquestioning witnessing of something in the night sky that was unexplainable.

Glad I cam across this thread. Some of you have interesting stories! I am not attempting to read back through all the pages (at this time) but am a bigfoot believer. Sorry if some of what i say are repeats. They say there are bigfoot believers and there are bigfoot knowers. I have listened to literally hundreds of encounters told by the people that had experiences themselves. Not sure if it was nentioned but its through a podcast called Sasquatch Chronicles. Listen to a few encounters and if will definitely make you think. I have been outdoors alot myself but dont ever recall any mire serious than the occasional creep out . Looking forward to more of your stories!

    Here’s a 3rd person Bigfoot/skunk ape encounter.

The little church I grew up in had a male youth group. We would camp and do things similar to the boy scouts but Christian based. We had two of the leaders that were on the local PD. Both mountain of men in their own right and both previous high school football standouts that never moved away. One became a state trooper and the other chief of the city PD. The chief part is where it gets real interesting.

So we had a camping engagement when I was maybe 7-8 out at his fathers camp near the Pearl River. This river is a literal death trap on its own, never mind the countless sloughs it had. All agencies along its banks have grapple drills to recover bodies. A bottom that’s ever changing and whirlpools galore. I’ve seen an entire oak tree with at least a 4-5’ girth, root ball and all, do a somersault in the eddies and currents after a good rain. Well, we were tent camping at a camp maybe 800 yards from the river but still had a boat landing in the backwater marsh. The not yet chief of police would not stay after dark and recanted this tale of hearing something. He was down there in his HS days on his ‘80s Prince motorcycle with some girl. When he heard the God awfullest screams and yells coming across the marsh. Breaking tree limbs and apparently throwing them as it came towards him. He fired up the old Jap bike and they got out of there. He embellished a lot more and tried to scare us but “we knew better”. Fast forward maybe 14 years and I’m out of high school and he is now chief. There is a report of a Bigfoot near the local ball fields that is not 1/2 mile from this camp. He literally dispatched all hands on deck armed to the teeth and he himself was reportedly in full tatical gear like WW3. The newspaper and locals had a good laugh but I sat there dumbfounded as I read that article. If only they knew what he knew….

From the stories I’ve heard, there are both good and bad Sabe. I’m beginning to wonder, if there’s a deliberate reason our species don’t interact or engage regularly. Maybe if we broke the communications barrier it could be for the worst - or better. We know how manipulative humans already are. Maybe they know something we don’t and our intelligence is still “in the dark”. No doubt to me though, it’s all connected - from lights in the sky to missing persons who are later found in already searched areas, and all the way to reported squatch sitings. There’s just too many stories confirmed by data that correlate with something strange happening. Part of me wants to have an experience but the other half of me doesn’t in fear of never going outside again.

Sasquatch chronicles is my favorite podcast. In my opinion, Scott Carpenter has the most accurate description of who they are, where they came from, and how they remain mostly unseen.

That is a horrible feeling. I spend a lot of time outdoors and have only experienced it a time or two. One I was on a logging road in Southern British Columbia exploring in my Nissan Titan. Did not run into a single person but part of the trail dipped down into a little bit of a valley and for some reason I felt nothing but immense fear. To the point I started to tremble and got my ass out of there. Absolutely no reason why this happened as I do not spook easily nor had any known reason to be spooked. I had to pass back through on my way down the mountain and felt the same fear again. I have done quite a bit of exploring in that area and never felt anything like it.

Regarding the inexplicable fear thing -

It has been theorized that certain low frequency (and moderate to low amplitude) sounds, just barely below the threshold of human hearing, can produce a fear response. Like the brain is subconsciously picking up that there is incoming stimuli, yet it cant perceive the signal using the normal channels. So fear, discomfort, or even dizziness is the response.

The real question is, what's making the noise?

Very interesting theory as this was instant and unexpected. It is not like I saw or heard anything that spooked me or even got my attention. Something emitting a frequency could explain why it appeared to be confined to a certain area.

I had a very bizarre experience with the supernatural about nine years ago at an abandoned farm in the White Mountains. I've got a long write up on it that I did a while ago but long story short I saw something poke it's head out from a door frame and look at me. The best way I could describe it was that it looked like Gollum from Lord of the Rings.

Sounds crazy, but swear on my life I know what I saw and my buddy who was with me saw the same thing. I can try to find my writeup if anyone is interested in the whole story. We've had some pretty weird things happen at my parent's property up there and I can't help but wonder what's out there.

I've gone solo camping in remote areas in the Northeast and Pacific Northwest for decades, and I've never experienced any feeling of being watched or have gotten bad vibes.
And my most formidable weapon has just been a knife, (although I would probably pack heat in addition to bear spray if I ever get to grizzly country).
Maybe I'm psychically blind to phenomena like that? :D

I’m not discounting your experience by any means, but there was an episode of paranormal caught on camera that had something similar to what you described. Most of the stuff on that show is pretty explainable, but every so often they show submitted footage that makes you go o_O.

I’ve found that in this world there are varying tolerances to everything, so you could be correct that various forms of stimuli don’t effect you the same as others.

You could be completely correct, perhaps the inaudible wind blowing above the mountain tops combined with the rushing water of a nearby stream register to a human brain as danger when all we hear is the water. Life is an ongoing experiment and I try not to discount any theory.
On that note, when I have contemplated the meaning of life and why we are all here, the best I can come up with is we are part of some sort of cosmic experiment.

My personal favorite contemplation relates to a very old and simple philosopher's quandary. I don't even remember who said it or the context anymore, but here goes.

The question basically went like this. Walk up to the ocean with an empty glass and fill it with water. Now pour it out, wait a minute, and fill it again. Is it the same glass?

Its a goofy old question, but during a particularly intense navel gazing session I related that question to something else.

What if the soul or spirit is water, and the body a mere vessel? And when we die, the vessel drains, the soul percolates into the earth, to join others, collect into a stream, flowing downriver, and eventually meet up into a vast ocean of spirituality. And with each new birth, each new creature dipping into this giant ocean to fill their tiny vessel with that inexplicable spark of life, that consciousness, will there ever be the same soul twice? Or will I never exist again as I think of myself? Maybe what was once me will endlessly intermix into the cosmos, a small piece of me finding its way into a houseplant, while others into an insect, a child, and whatever else? Its like reincarnation but not reincarnation, that we are all one and yet all individuals, to never happen again yet happening continuously, both eternal and fleeting. Like water and vessels, man. Like water and vessels.

Try that one on for size next time you're staring at the stars.

Very deep. For some reason that reminded me of my idea that the saying “time is infinite” directly relates to the infinite ♾ symbol. By this I mean that time is a giant loop and at the end of time, the Big Bang occurs and it all begins again in the exact same order.

Edit: if I seem a bit more philosophical today than usual, it is probably because my mom only has a matter of days left with us. In a way, I hope your philosophy or many other afterlife ideas are correct as it seems like such a waste for it to end and that be it. Sorry, your words kinda pulled me back to some real life stuff.

I was on Reddit a few years ago and found someone who saw the exact same thing I saw - described it in an eerily similar way. Their sighting was up in Northern California at a campground. Made me feel a lot better that there's three people who've seen it.
