Well.. my tailgate dance classes were cancelled and my piano moving business went under. So.. Lol just kidding.. :D

Honestly, I think it'll be alright. I'll keep an eye on it and throw a level on there every once in awhile. This thing is really conveniently reversible if need be.
I also considered that I ran one cable on my 03' for years and never had an issue. Granted that gate was half the weight of this one.

    Only time will tell :)

lol. Just skeptical for my particular setup as my tailgate is heavy. KBvoodoo steel reinforce tailgate cap and mountain hatch panel.

    Right on! Enjoy.

Ya.. I saw the "free shipping" disappeared at checkout and felt a little swindled. Lol But I ultimately felt a little better after I installed it seeing how well everything is thought out.

Edit: I found it much easier to use a socket wrench + extension on those tailgate torx screws. I stripped the hell out of the passenger side ones installing Chris's ATD using impact wrench & drill. I ended up having to drill it out lol.

I totally understand your concern. My custom tailgate insert is plastic and my cap is 14 Guage steel. So not much extra weight has been added in my case. Maybe even lighter..

    Not today but yesterday.

Had an illogically long day with 75 miles of Colorado off-roading, then a 250 mile drive home.

I started in Silverton at 8 am, took 110 from Silverton to the Alpine Loop. Then an easy little 4x4 spur up to Hurricane Peak (possibly one of the most scenic overlooks I’ve been to), then down the Corkscrew Gulch trail to 550. 550 up to the Engineer Pass trailhead. Took that to Poughkeepsie Gulch. Poughkeepsie (with the bypass) to the Hurricane Pass. The Alpine loop clockwise to Stony Pass. Ran Stony Pass to Creede. Then drove home.

And all of it was easy off-roading except Poughkeepsie. Even with the bypass around “the wall” that trail is pretty tough.

I was just out there a couple weeks ago. Did kind of the same way but went from Creed to Silverton via Stoney and then hurricane to cinnamon passes around to lake city then took Engineer down to 550. Got to say that drive down to 550 was pretty sketchy!

I just ordered that tailgate assist thing today, but someone else installed one and said it didn't rub anywhere.

I took mine off because it rubbed the cable, eventually it broke.
