These puppies (see what I did there) came in today. They have some nice plunge. I'm just waiting on shocks to come in now.

You had “0” of these in stock and yet you got me a double shear kit within like 5 days of ordering. Thanks @81Trekker ! Dude this is so rad that it threads right onto my MOOG inner tie rods. Ideally I won’t be running these stock inners for an extended period of time but it will be a solid rack setup with my tundra rack for the time being. Love this double shear kit you offer.

@Sixthelement we’re on our way to a solid bandaid/ stitches to fix the front end of your truck after last weekend’s shenanigans. Full surgery and proper fixing when all the LT parts show up.

Turn the heat down on the open corners, the heat signature is the dead give away it’s too hot

Thanks for the tip. I’m guilty of being lazy and not messing with my settings as much as I should when the situations change. I basically have some 0.030” wire and 0.023” wire settings and rarely deviate from them unless it’s a special circumstance. They just seem to work but I can agree that I definitely put more heat than needed at times like you noticed

I use 030 for pretty much everything and using the different settings makes a world of difference. Below is a pic of 1/4” I was doing with the same 030 I use to build 1/8” arms... so stop being lazy :)

Yeah I use 030 for basically everything but sheet metal. Like you said, just need to stop being lazy about settings when switching between material thicknesses instead of just varying travel speed between 1/8 and 1/4

And @81Trekker as for the Howe pump kit, should I call the shop with a deposit tomorrow to secure one? I know you said you were waiting on pulleys. Paycheck on 9/24 can cover the purchase but I do want to lock one in early if need be and can throw a couple hundred down for a deposit tomorrow

Pretty sure this is what he means by heat signature, and how far it extends from the weld.

    upload_2021-8-27_9-42-45.jpg

Becuase he's talking about this weld, it's an open corner.

Correct...look at the pics I just posted and the heat signatures on them. The other dead give away is how gray the weld is. Gray color means it’s too hot. Different temperatures produce different colors. Cold welds start with chrome colors, then gold, then purple/blue and finally gray is the hottest. This is very evident when tig welding but can also be seen in the HAZ (heat effected zone) when mig welding.

    Mods? Yes, oh yes..
REDOX (reduction and oxidation) causes the metal to change colors. The electron orbitals are altered by the heat (oxidation state change) and that in turn changes the wavelength of the light being emitted. :blahblah:
