What did you pay for your 1st gen?

Bought a used 2003 base cab rwd 5 speed Certified by Toyota with 59k on it for $10k in 2006. Now at 104k miles. Just replaced starter motor and water pump. Only major repair since I bought it. 24mpg highway, 20mpg city. Love it.

 

$17,200 for my '96 25 years ago. Was a great investment as I have driven it 414,000 miles and hardly put any $ into it for repairs.

 

$10K, 2001 TRD 117k miles. 5sp, white, original owner, all dealer maintenance, white, shell, carpet kit, Maggiolina Extreme tent, Only needed shocks.

 

$2,700, 2000 Prerunner Ext Cab, 3.4 V6, 4x2, purchased in 2015 with 225k miles, put thus far about $1k into it over the years without driving much, now turning it into a tent camping truck, so spending several k$ to get everything up to par to travel, plus tent.

 

5200.00 out the door from a used car lot in Sacramento in 2018. 235k and needed shocks, tires, LBJs and inner/outer tie rod ends. Nothing else since that stuff. Drove home, removed steps, mounding and pinstripes. Still debating black flares or not. That’s as clean as it’s been since I bought it, it’s a 4wd truck and I treat as such, lol..

 

My dad bought an 03' Tacoma last year for about $14K with 72K miles on the odometer. I'm currently saving up to buy it off of him.

 

2004 Xtra cab 4x4 auto TRD with only 9,500 miles for $21K in 2007. Currently, it has 90K miles on it.

 

9600 for a v6 5 speed 4x4 02 Xtracab with 137 on the clock. Bought it with slight frame rust before I knew anything about tacoma's but got it cut out and rewelded for 1k. Otherwise mint condition

 

1999 SR5 4x4, with topper and class three hitch a and flat four plug. 150048 miles from two owners who always garages it, and had local dealer do the maintenance. Frame looks close to new. 2.7L, automatic. $11,500 two weeks ago. Changed oil even tho it only had 549 miles, but from July '18. Will change plugs and coolant, but tranny and differentials serviced at 104000, along with belts.

I think I did OK. Should last me my life (15-20 years), as it will be 3000 or so miles per year.

 

2001 double cab 4x4 TRD Package, 210k easy miles (at that time), dealer maintained, impeccable service records, paid $7k 3 years ago. Buddy damn near "gifted" it to me as far as I'm concerned. Helped him change out a starter and steering rack years ago (he was not very mechanically inclined), but other than that no problems with the truck. Fair price at the time should have been about $10k near as I could tell. But we've been tight since we were 10 yrs old, he knew I wanted it or one like it, knew I was tight on cash, and didn't want to finance a penny of it, and he cut me a sweatheart deal. Could sell for considerably more now, but will be hanging onto this one for as long as it continues to drive I think. Want to start looking into suspension upgrades, winch, see if I can find a decent used ARB bull bar, etc. Will be a nice vehicle to get me out in the sticks in my retirement. Goal is to have it set up just for that when that time comes. I'll buy a beater corolla or something for everyday chores and try and save this one for the fun stuff.

 

1999 Ext Cab V6 4x4 Trd 5spd paid 4k. Giving her some tlc at the moment.

 

Got this just last Wednesday (5/12/21), so a very recent value.

2004 Xtracab, V6, 5 speed, TRD Off-Road, 181k miles, first (and only) 2 owners were a nice kid and his grandfather. Very well maintained, nearly mint condition. Brand new MT tires, Raptor lined bed, full Kicker sound system w/ Sony head unit, recent clutch, new radiator and steering rack, and fresh paint job. Florida truck its entire life so 0 rust. 60 of its 180k miles were all highway.

$14,000.

 

1997 Extended Cab V6 4x4 5 speed, base interior with 264k on the clock. Paid $6500 in January.

 

2002 EC, TRD 4x4, SR5, V6, auto. New in 2002 for $21,000. Probably still worth half that almost 20 years later (~150K miles), great value.

2004 Xtracab SR5 3.4L 5 speed 4x4, 102k miles. Lots of mods.

Bought in Reno for $17,000 early 2021.

$19,500 March 1st 2000. I think I got a great deal!

 

Certified used 2003 Base cab 2 wheel drive 5 speed manual with 59k bought in 2006 for just under $10,000. No regrets.

 

I thought I read 180k at first I was like that's a lot but than saw 18k. That's a unicorn for sure! Did you run a carfax to verify the odo?
