What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Truck thought since I'm not actively modding at this moment.

Thinking about the bed platform I have. it doesn't quite go to the sides of the bed. Thinking rather than fill in the gaps, I might notch one of the boards and slide them all over a few inches, then put molle on the side with the gap, for my traction boards, shovel, and fire extinguisher.

 

got a question for whoever can help.

there's been some discussion lately about running a smaller spare tire in the rear in the case of a flat and that it's not good for the differential. so i replaced my stock tires (which were the 265/70/16's) with the k2 tires (which are 265/70/17's) and my spare is still the stock size. i've been thinking of getting a new spare tire that would be 265/75/16 which would basically be the same diameter as the current 17" tires i have. going to that new size is roughly 1" diameter bigger than my current spare. i looked underneath where the spare is now and it doesn't look like a 1" bigger diameter tire would fit in there. has anyone tried this or done this? or does this involve some kind of modification to make it work? thanks for any and all help...

 

What running boards are these?

 

Gave mine its first ever oil change today. 2,155 miles. I used a wix filter(it came with a housing drain and o rings) and mobile 1 oil. I was pleased with the set up underneath for changing oil. I have changed probably 100s of different vehicles oil and this was a very pleasant experience.

 

Running a slightly smaller tire in 2wd for short distances shouldn't hurt anything. I know people are fitting 285/70/17 in spare tire well but it touches heat shield. 265/70/17 or 265/75/16 should fit fine.

 

I have a 285/75/R16 currently in my spare position (33” tire) it fits with some minor altercations to the forward guide prongs (basically beat them upwards with a rubber mallet, took about 5 minutes.I also use a couple rubber straps to bias the tire aft when stowed, so it remains clear of the rear differential. If you like, you can move the spare tire hoist aft an inch, but this will require drilling some new holes, but it will eliminate the need for the rubber straps.

 

I have 265/75/16 ko2s on trd pro wheels. The spare is just one of the 5. Fits in there fine.

 

Replaced the ADS with some King shocks. @AccuTune Offroad amazing work on tuning these bad boys. I don't have enough miles for a full review (opinion), but so far, I'm very impressed.

 

After they break in a bit and you play with the adjustments to fit your liking on road they are great. Go offroad and adjust as needed. Of course you probably already know this stuff.

 

I'm very excited for them to be broken in. I assume it's going to get better and better.

Maybe I need to visit OR and you can show me some trails. I've hit some cool spots offroading for work in the McKenzie area.

 

I only hit Forest service roads and Kings are great on washboard surfaces. Unfortunately most trails and service roads are closed in my area from all of last years fires. They are still working on the main hwy.

 

Installed Desert Does it Seat Jackers. Boy does this make a difference in the comfortability in the seat. High quality made product that does the job!

Ok I understand now, yes square tube is open. It's very similar to the factory square tube where the hitch mount is welded to, Toyota left it open as well. It's a good idea to cap it. I'll start looking for caps, need to measure it first.

 

This is your omen to install a Body Armor Hiline bumper (or something similar).

 

I do think the caps have been located by someone on here. Ready-made to pound them in.
