makes sense. the problem for me is not extending further but the sides you pointed out even if it extends further its still going to let dust in as it does not have a bulb-like seal and its not even seal where it bolts to the door. the flap part they added fell off.

did you try loosening it and pulling it down? I have to go look but I think mine goes farther but its at the end of how far it can go but the sides are a gateway for dust.

Yes, that photo is how it looked after they installed it and here's what it looks like now. I was only able to move down less than 1/4", but that still leaves a pretty big gap for dust to come in. Maybe my expectations are too high, but I feel like there should be a better solution that filling that spot with tailgate seal.IMG_1629.jpg

Yah I posted before I’ll find it again but it was a hack and kind of works. Mine looks the same. It’s an after thought as it was designed for the 3rd gen and even then doesn’t seal.

Not the nest. It behind I added a tailgate seal and extended it. I doubled up in the middle and it helped. Not perfect but better than a blatant hole.

Mounted my new CVT awning and mesh room. See pics below. Nice fit side to side. I did have to remove the handle and reposition the Gzila pole mounts. Turns out pulling the tent down without the handle isn’t that hard. One issue is that the door hits the awning poles when open. I don’t want to lower the door because I kept hitting my head on it when it was lower. I don’t think it will do any damage as it’s almost all the way open, not much pressure on the awning.

I’ve never had an awning before and I have to say it’s a little disappointing for the money. Kind of hard to deploy, had a hard time mounting the mesh room in the C channels. I can live with it, which is not how I wanted to feel about it. It feels like the CVT people just kind of phoned it in. “Yeah we make awnings too.”

Last but not least, I had hoped the mesh room would fit around the rear door and tailgate better, but it would clearly need a custom cut and fit to work well. Not CVT’s fault. I might get an upholstery shop or seamstress to cut and fit the tailgate portion someday. It would be nice to have a bug free room and bug free camper connected.

I ended up taking my 270 awning off. Its too tall when mounted using the spc brackets and prevents parking in the garage. Debating on trying to find a lower mounting bracket or just forgetting about the awning.

I asked about that and was told it was a new design they were trying on the Tundra.

They come standard on the Tacoma’s as well now. The cables are routed differently on the door though and not sure if the new latch uses same holes as the original ones. I noticed it when I was there for @tacowiz install.

you just have to get used to deploying it. A lot of people talk shit about how theyre so cumbersome to setup but I can set mine up in about 40 secs. actually put a clip of it in a video! https://youtu.be/T0bCzbL9ArM?t=411 Now the awning room, yeah those are a pain in the ass with the channels.

The only weird thing for mine is that it doesn't close completely straight. I end up having to jerk it to the right for the latches to lineup. I suspect it's a gas strut issue. I'll have to measure to see if they were installed the same

Mine does that too sometimes. Seems to be when I get a bit lazy about tucking in the tent material cleanly. Usually if I raise it again and re-tuck, the latches line up and I have no issue closing it.
