Thanks for the detailed pics. I'd been talking with Shaun@Talons recently about picking up one of these. Your pics are more detailed than the website and it's much appreciated.

    Thanks!
On the taco with pro skid you will have to take out the last two bolts as the instructions say, and also loosen the middle two in order for the pro skid to drop enough. This will drop it enough to install the spacers (spacer will be on top of cat plate touching the cross member) and the cat plate will slide above the rear of the pro skid.

I used the security hardware he has for purchase so the only thing I had to add because of the pro skid was two washers as the holes in the pro skid are quite large compared to the head on the security bolts. (See photo)

I hope this was helpful I can definitely take some more pics if needed just let me know.

Are there any concerns with thermal considerations? This plate looks well designed and built; however, Catalytic converters run really hot and I wonder about heat dissipation being affected.

Not sure but I’m figuring the plate is aluminum (heat sink properties?) has vent openings, and air flow while truck is in motion can aid in cooling plate? Dunno just some thoughts.

After an hour of mixed driving I can place my hand on it with no issues, it hot but not concerning to me.

Just curious, what diameter was this washer OD and ID? I’m guessing 3/8”x1”?

That sound pretty close , I just grabbed my last two stainless that I had, that had with a ID would work and an OD that would not fall in the skid.

Sorry they where in a bin with other washers.

I can measure the the factory bolt/washer I pulled out of the Pro Skid today and post the ID OD of the washer.

factory is 5/16x7/8 and without removing the washers I used it looks like I am getting an 1” OD and no clue on the ID but 3/8 should be ok

Curious - when does the transmission fluid change happen? I don't remember seeing it in the manual.

Toyota recommends that vehicles featuring an automatic transmission have their fluid changed every 60,000 to 100,000 miles.

Is there really that many of those things being stolen to be worried about it?

I guess for me it depends on where I’m at. My truck is lifted and it looks like it has 4 cats. Maybe there not all cats but when I consider the price to replace them it seems reasonable to me for my situation. Neighbors are getting them stolen. I do park in the garage at home but when I go out I spend time downtown and anything is fair game there. I probably wouldn’t be too concerned about it if I hadn’t had mine stolen from my sequoia 6 years ago.

I had a Toyota dealer recently call me and order a bunch of my plates because they had a bunch of Tacoma’s hit.

I had a long conversation with the parts director on what you are describing as the rear cats.

they are listed as a “pipe” in the parts manual, but he says they have a part number that is similar to what Toyota gives a cat.

he also told me it is around 1200 bucks so it might be worth protecting anyways.

Yeah... i believe there's 2 what they call secondary converters on mid pipe and 2 primary converters on exhaust manifold.

    [/QUOTE]
In this picture what's that black bar/beam (looks like the small triangle cat protection piece is mounted under it.) My 07 doesn't have it... what's it for? Is it aftermarket or oem?
