It’s bad when the company takes pictures from the passenger side and leaves the doors on the drivers side... that’s how you know it sucks to remove the doors.

I've had a cj5, cj7, yj, and now a tj. My tj is the only one that has ever had doors, and they are never on.

I've seen xj' s and old toyota trucks without doors and they just look dumb. I think it looks dumb in the pic above. Actually the only other non jeep vehicle i think it doesn't look dumb on is the older topless T4R.

But then I'm not driving it either.... so whatever blows your skirt up. My TRD with the windows down, the slider open, and the moon roof open is plenty for me without having to un bolt and un wire doors LOL.

As @walterj suggests, they might be fun when the time comes to convert a mildly wrecked high mileage unit into a flat bed off road cattle herder or base camp supply hauler.

All that ras-a-ma-taz in cab wiring jazz (not just the doors) is gonna need some creative weather proofing though. :rain:

Assuming you live where it actually rains, or your adventures include fordings and mud holes.

I plan on making some and removing the front and access doors at some point and using a cargo net mesh to block out part it. Hopefully for Moab 2019.

Being new, I'm hesitant to unleash the sh@t-storm of hate this may send my way. I also realize this is a 3 year old thread but I dont have the forum confidence to start a new Thread on this.

I just got the 4xinnovations front tube doors. It's 5 bolts a side, including your door limiter screw. Remove your plastic kick panels, the sides pop off by hand and the fronts are held on by a ratchet screw. 3 plugs driver side and 2 plugs passenger. I also unplugged the door ajar sensor so it doesnt yell at me every time the truck moves.

I bought 4x8' 1/8" thick rubber industrial mats and cut/glued them into the shape of the cab floor, lining the entire interior with rubber. Think full coverage floor liner. I cut them like a jeep carpet, so I can pull them out easily without removing my seats and air out the carpet if necessary. I tucked the edges under the plastic trim pieces on all sides, used Flexshot Black to line the seams. Because of the quick removal aspect of the liners, of course it will never be 100% waterproof but I keep an old towel in the back and I can wipe any pooled water down pretty effectively. Not much seems to get to the carpet, and I've been in a couple serious rain storms. 20210810_125222.jpg 20210810_125145.jpg 20210731_095525.jpg 20210731_095446.jpg 20210731_095514.jpg

The rear windows do not work, I don't really know much about wiring but as I understand it the master switch controls them from the front drivers door and when they are not there...no dice. My girlfriend is helping me to sew up "soft uppers" for the front with old tonneau cover material and boat window vinyl. Will have a frame of aluminum tent pole material, held in place by magnets at the top and straps to the tubes. Thinking that I can cut plexiglass in the shape of my rear windows and just "click" them into place. It will be an experiment, for sure. Eventually, once businesses are getting rid of their Covid-shields I hope to score some free or cheap plexiglass to experiment with.

With a name like Itchyfeet maybe you have more experience in that department than I do .

Haha, I get it, not for everyone. I get a lot of compliments and I enjoy the ride.

Most things are exactly what you imagined them to be, like boobs, ass and whatever else you imagined as a kid.
In this case, i imagine this to be dumb af, because it likely is

If I don't want the doors or if I want the trail doors, then I'd take everything out from inside and place sheet metal all over place so it will be easy to clean up. Similar to what race cars have.

I have this setup on my Wrangler. It's a lot of fun, but also a lot easier to do on a wrangler I'd imagine. Takes me about 30 min for all 4 doors.
