Just give the IRS it's share of your free money and call it good. Don't offset gains by taking a loss on other positions unless you are sure they are not going to come back.

 

You can always increase your charitable giving to help with your taxes. Lowers your bill, helps people, makes you feel good, and I’d be happy to go set that charity up if you want

Luckily there's only 1500 shares in there. I pulled a lot of money out for the car, both our IRA's and put some aside for the TV. Still rough since my cost basis in the play account is $2.75. lol

 

Good I'm not the only one. the Roth is good, climbing a couple of those red's back up and where all my money is. The "play" fund is so underwater I'm surprised it hasn't been found in a deep sea discovery

 

I had a good chuck of change in the play account before I decided to pull a lot of it. I'm glad I did. Realized gains I'll deal with at tax time. The point is they are realized and not underwater like what's left in that account. If GTii does something I'll happily pay gains on that as well. If it doesn't that money will sit there as long as it needs too. lol

I'll give one later. Right now I'm taking a break from welding up my broken strut towers. Passenger side is done. Yes, the welds look like shit but they're strong and have plenty of penetration. Considering I have less then 10 feet of welds under my belt I'm not that upset about how they look. lol

Same. I made some profit, and then proceeded to use it and now...here we are. Come tax time, my only statement will be: profit? what profit? It was all negligible and if I really want to send my loss home, I'll sell off my remaining stocks for the beautiful loss they are.

 

Slightly off topic, but what's the best account for saving for college? Kids are still very young but I feel like I'm already behind. What is the best account in case they don't go to college?

 

We went with custodial, just gotta educate the kid as they approach that college decision on making good decisions with the funds.
