You could just order a PTFE gasket from LCE. I don’t know what Derlin is but PTFE is really good at resisting heat transfer.

I was going to get one for the lower made out of PTFE. It’s the same stuff companies are making “thermal” intake gaskets with now because it’s so resistant to heat transfer.

In the end I was worried that because PTFE has a low durometer that you might break the feet off the supercharger from the gasket deforming under torque and vibrations.

I would definitely recommend the nose cone brace. You can cut a old static bracket to work with the dynamic tensioner, or @mechanicjon makes a kit with a bracket and hardware.

Or just run meth injection, that'll cool it down.

LCE? Delrin is an engineering thermoplastic used in precision parts requiring high stiffness, low friction, and excellent dimensional stability.

I need to get my support on. I’m just terrified of drilling into aluminum and then threading the hole. If you fuck up then you have a shitty looking hole and still no support.

Last time I did this I threaded the tap way too far and it does not allow the threads enough “contact”. why a 1/8” thread tap tapers wider than any 1/8” fitting is beyond me. Lesson learned. Never go past 3/4” of the length of a NPT tap.

I drilled the front of mine, wasn't bad just take your time. Having a short drill helps, I used a small 12v dewalt. Wrap some tape around the bit so you can guage how deep you are going. There is plenty of material there, but obviously don't go through it. I did it with 2 drill sizes, a little one to get it going, then the appropriate tap drill. Next is keeping the M8x1.25 tap square/strait. Once its got a couple turns in, you can step back to look and make adjustments. A 2nd bottoming tap would help to chase the threads at the bottom of the hole, just don't snap it off bottoming too hard.

Took the truck for its first real “drive”. And uh.. the pinging is insane. SO confirms my suspicions of the dealer putting stock plugs in the poor thing… I’ve got the ik22s coming now….

Could just be a pinger too, lot of us were/are.

Since it's manual trans, keep your shifts above 3k rpm so you're no lower than 2500 rpm when you accelerate in the next gear. I've found on my truck at least, boosting under 2500 rpm is a great way to make it ping. 2500+ it never happens.

7th injector may have something to do with that but still. High gear/low rpm is well known to make it happen

I’ll see if Napa has them Monday. I tend to spend money there because I get that sweet employee discount lol
i actually pulled one plug right after that post.. they’re indeed stock plugs… I think she’d be ALOT happier with proper temp plugs.

As weird as it may sound replacing the crank sensor helped almost get rid of ping all together for me.

Keep ECT power on. It kicks it out of O/D with much less load.

I also think “headers” helped. It’s just my theory(and many others) that shortys don’t do shit for power. I think getting rid of the retarded Y-pipe is what helps.

I used to pull as much as 5 degrees of timing in the problem areas and it still pinged some. Now I only pull 1 degree between 4000-5500.

I kind of regret not doing the GM knock sensor mod. If you do go OEM think about going with Denso. Toyota used two manufacturers for sensors. The one with the “M” on them seem to be shittier from what I’ve seen looking around other forums. The “M” ones came out of my truck and one had a rattle inside of you shook it.

Mine did too before I got it. OEM cat failed at 45k miles which tells me the previous owner was not at all careful about the pinging situation.
