I thought about you and your hives the other day when I read about murder hornets ariving in the pacific northwest. Is there anything that can be done to protect the bees? I hope so, we need all the bees we can muster.

I think we just have to be vigilant to watch for them. Last i heard they thought they had found the murder hornet hives in the PNW and killed them off.

LOL. We spent 2 hours trying out guitars at Chuck Levin's Music Center in Wheaton MD. He tried out 6 guitars and it came down to a Taylor 314ce or a Martin D14e. The Martin was selected because of the sound when amplified. Both are excellent guitars.

    Morning all:
I just read where they found another murder hornet hive with 180 adults and 1500 larva on Aug. 11 2021 and destroyed it. So far it seems they are only in the PNW, hopefully they can eradicate them before they spread nationwide.

Looks like hurricane Ida is going to be another hard hit for the Southern coast, thoughts and prayers for anyone in it's path.

Found out last night that one of the guys that I have know for years died from covid, he owns a garage and from what I was told his son and grandson also had it but they survived it.

Good morning everyone! Lots of rain around PA yesterday but we missed it all for once - clouds in the morning, a mix of sun and clouds in the early afternoon and then cloudy in the evening. We still got in a hot air tether for some folks having a party. Even got some food and beer afterwards.

I'm playing in a fundraiser golf tournament this afternoon - but the weather isn't looking too promising. Warm but wet.

Very sorry to hear about your friend, Carl.

    Stay safe out there!!

Sorry to read about your friend Carl. This C19 is a nasty little bugger. I have been tested 3 times in the last 3 weeks. Each test was negative.

Most of the stores in my area are once again requiring masks to be worn.

Somewhere sacked away in our back closet is a case with a Gibson "Heritage" that I bought in 1966. Probably in need of attention at this point! I'll bet my arthritic hand would have to have a bit of a trouble with its slender neck.

Headed back to Missouri this week as we've lost my mom after several years of slow decline. Slipped away in her sleep without any pain which is fortunate. She hasn't known me for years and only in the most dim and scattered fashion, my sister. I certainly wish for her to be in a better place. Sis has had a harder time dealing with this as she never left the area where we grew up and had daily contact with ma for her own lifetime. I left home over fifty years ago and only made short visits over the period since. Those visits have been tough the last few times I was there, as I was a complete stranger to her.

Think that for the sake of solitude, I'll gas up the Taco and drive myself over there. Maybe dust off some fishing gear and help my brother-in-law exercise his boat a few days. I owe the man a lot - he was the male person who did all of the toting, carrying, painting and vehicle maintenance the ladies have required while I was roaming the west.

    Morning all:
Sorry to hear about the loss of your mother Steve. As I have stated before, we all have an expiration date, be glad hers came without having to suffer through pain.
My condolences to you and the family.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Folks! Sorry to hear about your friend Carl. And your mom too, Steve. That was the boat my sister was in - thankfully, it was only a couple of years when it was getting bad.
    .
More clean up and some backyard chores today; get to fill the pool later in the day - it's a cured as can be. Something that was so simple the first time sure turned into a headache. There are some spots deep in the water that will have to wear off, and I'm sure to hear about them until they do. (There were some last time too, but since these had "poor hardening", I hope it won't be long.) I'll get the last pics with WATER in the darn thing.

Oh, that secret I found? I searched and search for something to make that first blue coat "not tacky", since I wasn't going to scrape it off. I settled on the clear lacquer, because it did cover the tacky when it dried. But, after I put draped the masking paper over it the next day, eventually the paper stuck where some reactions were still taking place. What did I avoid when searching? Those "crafty" people with their little resin projects. Well, I literally stumbled on this one minute, bubbly blonde, hand held phone video where it took her that whole minute to say "wipe it off with Isopropyl Alcohol, and all the sticky will go away!" Well, since I was cleaning off stuck paper anyway, I wiped everything with alcohol as I went. And, I'll be damned. Slick and clean, same next day when I'm ready to paint over it. So, when I "broke the DIY rule" by measuring, I should have realized I might have to cross boundaries to find an answer the experts wouldn't share!

    Have a great Monday all!

I'm sorry for your loss, I lost my mother years ago the same way. She went in her early 60's from alzheimers. By the time she past she didn't really know me either and I saw her frequently right to the end. My brother lived far away and didn't see the decline until the very end and she didn't know him, it crushed him. I said she has been gone a long time, don't take it to hard. She passed peacefully in a nursing home. So I understand what you are feeling. They are in a better place now and no longer a prisoner in a body that doesn't work. I swear when I looked into her eyes I could see the frustration she had with not being able to speak or communicate. A horrible thing to watch our loved ones go through. I'll see my mother soon..........but not today.
She is in my thoughts everyday so she isn't really gone.

Played golf yesterday. Shot 53 on the front nine.

Had a couple beers & a puff, and shot 39 on the back.

And my friends wonder why I want to quit the game.

That's a score I envy Cheech! When it cools down, I'm dragging my wife out - like it or not!

Didn't think there'd be much to get a picture of, but...
    Hose at work!

When it's full, water should be about 2/3 up the blue tile

    And this should look nice.

I discovered what I need to do - without chemicals - to make 90%+ of wife complaint about spots disappear! And along the way of DIY tomfoolery, I crossed over for a crafters trick; epoxy sticky? Isopropyl alcohol wipe down.....dammit.
And no good deed goes unpunished -right? I just bought that light blue umbrella and a heavy ass base; and the chair rotted out. I sat on the chaise lounge to work on taping; the fabric ripped out on that too!
